Love the atmosphere! I can honestly say that when we pulled up I had no idea what to expect. At all. There were a lot of cars outside..I thought a long wait was ahead of us. We walked in and we're immediately seated in the back part of the rather large dining room. The ambiance of this place is amazing! For the first five minutes I sat, looking around in awe. A very diverse staff as well as customer base. I love that literally everyone approaches you as if they have known you forever. Southern hospitality at its best. On the walls the art work of local artists hang with the price tags ready for purchase. We sat in the back where there is what looks to be a small thrift store. A really cool addition to the place. This restaurant is suitable for families, just a couple of friends out to eat, or a couple looking for a nice chill place.
The menu literally has something for everyone. There are so many things that I wanted to try so I just randomly picked one today! Everything is reasonably priced with the taxes included in the price that is listed. You definitely get your money's worth as the portions are pretty big. Almost 2 servings per order. Did I mention they sell breakfast all day! SCORE!
As for my food, I ordered the chef's omelet with veggie sausage added and a pancake for my side. My food was pretty good. The goat cheese probably threw it off a little for me though. In sticking to southern food traditions my omelet was also pretty heavy with butter or oil. The spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms were sauteed perfectly. The pancake was as big as the plate. I seriously only ate half of it and asked for a to go box for the other half. It was thick and fluffy. Very good. My boyfriend got a simple breakfast with scrambled eggs , cheese grits, bacon, Turkey sausage, and a biscuit. His food looked really good as well.
Overall...I loved it! I'll definitely go back here often! The only thing I HATED....I left my to go pancake box on the table. By the time I got to the register and realized it was too late. I went right back and our table had already been turned and was clean. Can't say that's the worse thing ever though... but I was reallllllly looking forward to that...
Read moreI came in town to eat at this place and was treated terrible by the “owner”.My wife and I waited for our food for well over 30 mins. We ordered a basic breakfast and salmon biscuit. A few tables sat down after us and received their food before us. At this point we was curious to know if our order had been put in by our waitress. We asked a random worker walking by if we could speak with a manager, she informed us that they didn’t have a manager and that she would go to get our waitress. Our waitress eventually comes back to our table after 30 plus minutes of waiting on our food to come out and informed us that they had a lot of to-go orders and that she didn’t know when our order would be out. Magically our order appeared by the “owner” one minute later after she walked back to the kitchen. Lol I can’t make this up. The lady who brought our food out had a very bad attitude with us as if we was getting on her nerve because we was wondering when our food was coming out. She basically told us that we were lying about waiting over 30 plus minutes for our food and that we had only been waiting 13 minutes. Terrible customer service at it finest. At this point I was becoming very annoyed with this lady and I kindly pushed my food back on the table and the “owner “ grab both of our plates and proceeds to storm back to the kitchen. I will never patronize this business again. I would always come to support this establishment when I lived here in Atlanta. My advice to the owner is to learn to treat people how you would want to be treated and remember that if it wasn’t for your customers that you wouldn’t even be in business....

Overall: after a visit in the ATL, we had a choice of many great options for brunch and we settled on HomeGrown. It was fantastic!! They have such an eclectic and unique menu that it's difficult to choose. Customer service is super friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. Good bit of space inside and patio. Definitely gets busy, but they keep service throughout. Parking on site is a very needed bonus.
Food: creative and unique menu that's tough to choose. Tempted many times by other items , but went with the comfy chicken sandwich. It is an open faced fried chicken on a biscuit with pork gravy. I know this is a BIG statement, but it is the BEST chicken sandwich with gravy I've ever had! It was seasoned perfectly and pro gravy was fantastic. The biscuit was awesome as well. No need for salt, pepper, or hot sauce at all. B got the hot steak biscuit, complete with hot sauce and a pickle on a tasty biscuit. Also had to get the home fries with onions, chilli, cheese and carrots. Amazing!! Coffee could use a little work, but I'm reaching here.
Interior/Exterior/Scene: awesome deco with city vibe including stickers of local places, music, and abound with unique paintings and overall decor. Large counter space if you want to skip the wait, which we did. Large patio with outside eating and large amount of parking for an in-city spot.
Service: was great, friendly, and super attentive. Our waiter at the counter was awesome!!
Summary: with tons of options of breakfast/brunch in the ATL, put this at the very top of...
