Michigan Hy-Fit Athletics is an outstanding place to get your fitness on! The atmosphere provided by the coaches makes you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, learn about all things fitness and health related, push yourself harder everyday during each workout, and make a few friends along the way. Having a place like Michigan Hy-Fit Athletics is more important than ever with all the craziness going on in the world. You need this place not just for your physical health, but also for your mental health. I have been a member for two months now and I have been blown away by their great customer service, the difficulty of the workouts, the variety of movements during each workout, and the different formats of each workout. It's easy to see that the coaches put a lot of careful consideration into the creation of every workout because the workouts are always challenging and they never get boring. The variation of workouts helps members to focus on all important aspects of fitness, such as muscle endurance, muscle strength, functional movements, speed, agility, quickness, and core strength. You will see a variety of equipment used during workouts, which includes barbells, weighted sandbags, dumbbells, assault bikes, rowers, a pull-up rig, erg bikes, battle ropes, boxes for step-ups and jumping, medicine balls, boxing equipment, jump ropes, kettlebells, etc.
The facility is incredibly clean, visually appealing and well-organized. They put in extra hours everyday to make sure that everything is thoroughly sanitized from the floors to the bathrooms to the barbells and all the other equipment. The coaches' extra attention to cleanliness helps members feel safe during this global pandemic. They also have towels and sanitizing spray for members to use to clean their equipment after a workout gets completed. The gym has rich vibrant colors throughout with lot's of impressive wood work. They also have some great motivational quotes on the walls and it's easy to find the equipment you need and put it away when you're done.
Keep in mind that they enforce social distancing and require a mask be worn while you are not doing a workout. This means that you will need to wear your mask while entering, leaving and walking around the gym. You work out without a mask on, but you must stay in your allotted workout space while not wearing a mask. They have spaces marked off at several locations in the gym in an effort to keep people from being to close to one another while working out. This also means that class sizes have been reduced and each class typically has a maximum capacity of nine people.
There are a variety of times available for classes. Be sure to check the mobile app for their daily schedule and to register for a class before you show up to Michigan Hy-Fit Athletics. On a typical weekday they have bootcamp at 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 5:00 PM, & 6:00 PM. You can come to open gym, which is usually at 5:30 AM, 7:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 7:00 PM on weekdays.
They keep competition at a "you versus you" level. There is no unhealthy leaderboard ranking the results of their members. My experience at previous gyms is that leaderboards lead to injuries, drama, anxiety, hatred, anger, and cheating.
Come check out Michigan Hy-Fit Athletics and try their amazing approach to fitness and health. See how awesome a gym can be when people check their egos at the door and support...

Read moreThis gym is amazing. The classes are offered at great times and plenty of them. Each class is different, but all are positive and challenging. If you don't see a class time that works for you, I wouldn't be surprised if Denny (owner) added it to the schedule! I signed my whole family up and we are all going on a regular basis.
The trainers at Michigan Hy-Fit know what they're talking about. They truly want you succeed by helping you with technique and encouraging you to push yourself where you can. I’m always shocked when a class is over; it goes by so fast because the class, the trainer, and the moves are so engaging that time flies. I’m never bored. The atmosphere at this gym is first rate. Nobody cares what you look like, what your fitness level is, or what you wear. They meet you where you’re at and everyone is so welcoming and encouraging.
