My wife and I visited with our two small children age 3 and 4 months on Sat. Aug 13. Immediately upon seating ourselves at an unoccupied booth, a server brought us a complimentary monkey bread pastry of cinnamon and sugar as they were experiencing 20 minute ticket times. Our drinks order came within seconds and our oldest daughter was given a cute coloring page to keep her occupied. When our food came the first thing I noticed was FRESH. The salsa on my Mexican omelet was sapid and light, with notes of cilantro and fresh pico de gallo. My wife's Ricotta and Raspberry French Toast was grilled to perfection and quite delectable. Our daughter's Rainbow Pancakes were lively and colorful, so much so that at home today for breakfast, I was asked to replicate them again.
I have worked as a business professional in the Auburn Hills community for then past 14 years. To say that I have sampled fare from business lunch to catered breakfast in the community would be just scratching the surface. While the new Family Table Cafe should not be compared to be the old Toasted Bun, it should definitely be given a few visits to enjoy and divulge in their carefully crafted menu. Frankly, these are new owners with a new concept. The previous restaurant was a local favorite, but the new atmosphere plays on their culinary strengths to elevate the cuisine they share. I will state that if you are trying to get something quick, in and out, this should not be your first choice. Fresh food will always take a bit longer to prepare and serve, but the new owners are looking to make this an affordable, breakfast, lunch, and brunch gem.
The fresh paint and white table cloths, along with a staff in white polos or oxfords and black dress pants, give a professional, yet homey feel to a class establishment. The place was packed when we dined and I'm sure that as they get more in a groove, food orders will be faster and tables will be turned over more efficiently. The sampling of fare intrigued us to want to repeat our visit several times over. Keep up the good work and save us a seat as we will...
Read moreTHIS RESTAURANT IS FANTASTIC! My first time in this restaurant was wonderful, and the staff was GENUINE & ACCOMMODATING!
A special thanks to the waitress Diana and the Owner Kate and her husband for making us feel warm and welcome! I have never been to a restaurant where there was an abundance of HUMILITY and an OUTWARD EXPRESSION OF A BELIEF IN GOD-ALMIGHTY, His Word, and an unashamed expression of Christianity and LOVE!!! I felt right at home because Kate gave me and my confidant warm words of encouragement and wisdom when I asked her to pray for us.
These owners and their staff are BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE AND THEY ARE OPEN TO A TRUE REPRESENTATION OF DIVERSITY, HOSPITALITY, AND AUTHENTICITY!
Coming to this restaurant was the BEST DECISION that I made to have breakfast in Auburn Hills Michigan!
Not only that, THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL AND I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TRY THE MONKEY BREAD which is a family recipe at the restaurant! It is the best homemade Monkey bread that I have had in my life! The Monkey bread is SOOOOOOO good that they could honestly go global!
In relation to ATMOSPHERE, my only critique is that I wanted to eat outside based on the wonderful photos of the outside dining area that I saw on Google. But, it appeared that the outside seating wasn't available on that day and plus the few chairs that I did see were not inviting.
If you haven't visited the Family Table Cafe in Auburn Hills Michigan do yourself a...
Read moreFirst time here, and I wish I lived closer so I could go regularly! Our server, Cate, introduced herself as a co-owner and gave us some info about the cafe since we hadn't been before (the kitchen cooks from scratch where possible and uses locally sourced ingredients whenever they can). Cate was friendly, enthusiastic, and warm, and obviously cared a great deal about the business and providing great service. She gave us a complimentary monkey bread for our first visit, which was SO delicious - freshly baked, pillowy soft in the middle and with a lovely cinnamon sugary crunch to the outside, with a drizzle of sweet cream cheese icing. I ordered the honey & apple grilled cheese and a cup of the creamy tomato tortellini soup of the day. The soup was delightful, with the sweetness of the tomatoes and the little savory cheese tortellini. It definitely tasted fresh and homemade. The sandwich was buttery sourdough bread, grilled to a wonderful crunch, with melty cheese, crisp apples, fresh bacon, and a honey drizzle that pulled everything together nicely. I got sweet potato fries with the sandwich, which tasted fresh and were fried to a perfect crisp. My friend got a banana walnut pancake, sausage links, and home fries, all of which looked wonderful. I can't wait to be in the area again to try more of their...
