Big Lots — Local services in Augusta

The managers there are awesome. I bought a chair from them during Black Friday sale however I recently I noticed a slight rip at the seams in a small area. Not knowing who I should call first the manufacture or Big lots about this, I call Big lots and I am glad I did. The furniture manager Ms Natalie informed me my options and that if I had the receipt the warranty would cover this defect. Luckily I held on to it and she told me I could either send it to the manufacture or bring it back to the store for replacement. I chose to bring it back and when I got there she did everything she said she was going to do over the phone (hence no surprises, no runaround). I came, she checked the receipt/chair, I got a new chair. She even put it into the car for me which was blessing cause I had a time trying get back in the truck. She was prompt, really nice and because of it I will purchase more furniture in the future from them. I purchased a fireplace February 21, 2021 and it burned out the very beginning of January. I paid 239.38 for this fireplace which included a 3 year warranty on it. My fireplace started sizzling and smoking and I unplugged it. Thank God I was home because a fire could have happened. I just found my paperwork on it today February 22, 2022. That means my fireplace broke down within less than a year. I called to make a claim. I was told I had to make a claim within 5 days. I explained that I couldn’t find my paperwork with my information for my fireplace. The associate said, I’m sorry ma’am, it’s passed 5 days. Let me remind you that my warranty is for 3 years and I only had it 1 year and 1 day. It broke down before my year was up. They WILL NOT HONOR YOUR WARRANTY. It’s a RIP OFF to purchase the warranty. That’s FREE MONEY TO THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT 🤬. I’m extremely mad and highly upset. Basically a "Big Lots" like any Big Lots - lots of mixed deals. Not the tidiest store, and a fair amount of clutter & empty shelves, but still a good place to snag a deal if you are a smart shopper. Staff is courteous & all that good stuff, but sometimes they can be hard to find on the sales floor, and not all know what all they have & may not be able to answer all your questions - but they try.
