Imagination Station Children's Museum at Hickman Park — Local services in Augusta

Arrived at this museum ten minutes before opening and no one was there. Today is October 1, 2023 Sunday , 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Spoke to a parent she said to knock hard on the door there should be someone there. I knocked and nothing! 45 minutes later I was walking to my car saw another parent getting out the car and I asked he he work there he responded no, I saw his child so I let him know this museum is closed. He said this is his 3rd time bringing his child and no one has been there. He also made it known that this is a non profit organization which they do not get paid so I guess these people show up whenever the feel like it!! He was a paying parent as well. This is unacceptable I want a full refund and if no one wants to work or or have the park open then update hours or post on Facebook page, better yet just close this museum because children are not getting much use out of it. To make matters worse this organization is still accepting payments and it’s closed on the days it’s supposed to be open!! I want my money back and I will not returning. How...

My family loves visiting the Imagination Station. There are three separate rooms that offer a variety of activities for children to engage in. There is a literacy room with books, puzzles, games, and a stage with costumes. The main room has a large house for dramatic play, two train tables, a building center, and a separate area for infants or young toddlers. The last room has an art area. The large table is filled with supplies and there are several easels for drawing or painting. The playground outside was recently updated and has a large climbing structure, slides, swings, and two large shade covers attached to the main climbing structure. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Imagination Station Children’s Museum, and I was truly delighted by my experience. This charming museum exceeded my expectations with its engaging, hands-on activities that beautifully embody the principles of Montessori education.

As I explored the interactive exhibits, I was transported back to my own childhood, evoking a wave of nostalgia that nearly brought me to tears! It’s a fantastic place for children to learn and play, encouraging creativity and exploration.

Additionally, the museum's location in the lovely neighborhood of Summerville is a definite bonus. I even discovered a great connection to my characters, Mike, Joshua, and Velcro, from "BUTTONS & ZIPPERS: Bilingual Ed. & VELCRO & SAFETY PIN: What About Bs&Zs?” Its playful references to these children’s books that added a delightful touch of humor!

I highly recommend the Imagination Station Children’s Museum to families seeking a wonderful and enriching experience for their children. It’s a gem that will surely create lasting memories!
