My recent stay at The Partridge Inn was unfortunately less than satisfactory. Upon arrival, the hotel itself is charming and has the historical vibe its website heavily boasts. It’s clear the building has seen some wear and tear but that’s to be expected with a historic building and I thought the decor throughout the hotel was quite charming. The room itself was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. (There was not any complimentary water in the room which I was surprised by given this is a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel). I will also say the 8595 restaurant had great food and the servers we had were great (Ashley and Annie).
Where the negatives come in are with customer service and overall staff efficiency. My friend and I went to the restaurant bar on our first day to order drinks and an appetizer. Drinks and food came out reasonably quick and were good. However after that we were never checked on again. We sat for quite awhile with empty glasses and were never asked if we wanted more drinks or anything else for that matter. We eventually gave up and just got the bill.
That evening we had the unfortunate luck of the room next to us being extremely loud. They were clearly having a party as they played loud music and had a lot of people coming in and out. Keep in mind this hotel already has extremely thin walls and essentially no soundproofing so you are likely to hear your neighbors even if they are speaking at a considerate volume. These guests were not. At about 11:15 my friend called the front desk (which we had to google because our in room phone had no labels or directory to reach other areas of the hotel which I found strange. It was also not even plugged in). The female employee who answered was clearly stressed and was speaking with another guest while taking the call. She seemed agitated but said she would send security to to check on the situation. No one came. About 30 minutes later I called the front desk and spoke with another employee who yelled for security telling him “you need to go up, they’ve called twice”.
Some minutes later the security guard arrives at the neighboring room and knocks. Again, because the walls are thin we could hear someone open the door and the security guard say “This room called twice to complain about the noise”. He seemed to be playing the buddy card and didn’t want to be the one to ruin their fun. I also found it surprising he would tell them who made the noise complaint as that could potentially be a safety issue (we don’t know these people and they have been drinking- I wouldn’t want someone to get upset and do something irrational). Seems like pretty standard hotel policy not to do that.
The party didn’t stop and continued until about 1:00am. Upon checkout, the front desk employee asked us how our stay was and we were honest in telling her it was a rough night due to the room next door having a party. She nodded her head up and down and said “mmmm mhmmm, I bet”. And that was it. Of course you cannot blame a hotel for the behavior of its guests but I do expect a certain response from staff to remedy the situation or at least seem apologetic as this hotel is classified as a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel. This is easily the worst customer service I’ve experience in staying at that label of hotel.
Additionally, after having brunch at the restaurant that afternoon we went to use the bathroom nearby and it was filthy. There was no toilet paper in either stall and the floor was covered in hair and other things. It was after 12:00pm at this point and it was clear no one had been in there to clean.
Standard of service from The Partridge Inn is mediocre at best and though there were some positives I would not stay here again nor would I recommend...
Read moreMy spouse and I were in town to see family and we stayed at The Partridge Inn for three nights. It was the absolute worst hotel experience of our lives. Here were the myriad problems: we could not get the TV to work, so maintenance had to come to our room three times; we did not get housekeeping the first full day of our stay (no clean towels, no more toilet paper, no clean glasses, bed not made; trash not taken); the phone in the room stopped working on the last day we were there; the room looked as though a 5-year-old had painted and wallpapered (there was green paint on the white blind covering the bathroom window; there was paint gunked up in corners; there was bubbling wallpaper in the bathroom); the shower had an icky shower curtain and an incredibly small shelf in the stall for toiletries; the office chair in the room looked as though it belonged in the trash: the leather/vinyl was rubbed off; the carpeting was frayed at the bathroom entrance, as though a cat had clawed it . . . for years; there was no bathmat in the bathroom, so we had to ask for one; and we asked the front desk for additional towels and washcloths, which were never delivered. Insofar as the restaurant experience, we arrived late our first night and needed a bite to eat before retiring. The restaurant on the second floor was not crowded, but the staff acted as though they were in the weeds. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese to share. The mac and cheese was so incredibly salty that we could not finish it, and -that is saying a lot considering my spouse and I tend to lean toward somewhat salt-heavy dishes. When I told the waiter the dish was too salty, he was dismissive and said, "Well, seafood is in it." When he brought the check, he dismissively said, "Sorry it was salty." There was no discount whatsoever for the horrible $26 dish. If the hotel experience had been wonderful, or at least acceptable, we would not think a thing about the fact that there are no ramps anywhere. We would think it charming that the hotel has continued with its bygone era of NOT adding ramps for luggage. However, there is nothing "charming" about The Partridge Inn. I do not understand why luggage carts are offered. We had to carry heavy luggage up the steps to get the hotel, place our belongings on a cart, only to take the cart up the elevator and have to leave it there, due to the steps all along the route to our room. There was absolutely no benefit to using a cart. We let our Augusta family members know how incredibly disappointed we are with the experience at The Partridge Inn, and if we visit again, I would prefer to stay at a...
Read moreI always like to see the positive things first so I’m going to start with the positives of the hotel. -The hotel looks beautiful on the outside and has a very nice location. -The lobby looks very nice. -Staff (most of them) are very friendly. -Bed is comfortable. -There’s hot water and cold A/C -The pool looks nice. However… This hotel is NOT the luxury experience they make you think. It is simply an old hotel painted over to look nice. I get that it’s a historic place but that doesn’t mean everything has to be poorly remodeled. It has a lot of potential but it seems the people that do the handy work are NOT very handy at all. We had a reservation for 5 nights and on the first night after seeing everything we decided to cancel the rest of the reservation and move to a different hotel. Parking is not accesible for wheelchairs as there are no elevators so if you park in the 2nd floor of the parking you have to carry your bags down and up stairs. (They do offer valet parking for those who like it) The floors around the corridors and in the rooms are uneven, it’s just wooden floors covered by carpet and you can feel it while walking around. There’s uncovered electric receptacles in the rooms. Other receptacles are just painted over. The room is poorly painted and in some areas they just painted over rotten wood. The room smells musty. Rooms do not look like in the pictures. We even had a tv remote which didn’t have the battery cover and they just put a piece of black tape to cover it. It says there’s continental breakfast included but when we asked they just gave us the regular menu which only had regular priced breakfast. Only one working elevator. And finally, we put up the Do Not Disturb sign while we went to breakfast, when we came back to our room there were towels thrown in the floor in front of our door, someone went in our room and took all our towels even though we had the sign in the door and we hadn’t checked out yet and still had more than an hour left before checking out. This is very unprofessional and rude since it feels invasive and like they’re throwing you out. We told the person at the front desk about this and they simply said “oh.. I’m sorry”
It’s a bunch of small things that ad up and make you regret paying $250 dollars per night to stay in what you thought would be a very nice hotel and ended up feeling like a cheap motel. It’s really sad because the hotel could be very beautiful, it has a lot of potential to be truly an amazing experience that would make you feel like you’re staying in a museum, but right...
