Update: The manager called the Monday after the events described below and was incredibly kind, offering a genuine apology and made strides to rectify the less-than-positive experience. This sort of personal touch and customer service is rare these days and goes a long way to build loyalty, so we will likely give Midtown Tavern another shot next time we're in town. Even cold, the burgers were still tasty, so we look forward to trying them under better-timed circumstances.
We placed an order for take-out tonight using the website - 3 burgers with fries and 1 french dip. Turns out, the French dip shouldn't be available on the online menu, because they didn't actually have it. No one tried to call us about this, we arrived to pick up our food and my husband was told they don't have the French dip, and asked what we'd like instead. We replaced it with chicken strips. These took 35 additional minutes to prepare, meanwhile, apparently the rest of our food was ready and packed. We finally got the chicken strips and returned to the hospital (we're in town because of an extremely ill family member), and the burgers and fries were all cold, only the chicken strips were hot. We also had requested, in the online order, ketchup with all the meals and burger sauce on the side for two of the burgers. The only sauce or condiments we actually received was honey mustard with the chicken strips, which is what we explicitly said we do not need. The burgers were tasty but cold, and no one was really interested in cold fries with no ketchup to even dip them in (the hospital cafeteria was closed by the time we finally got back with the food). We were charged full price for all entrees, even the one that made everything else late because their website is incorrect and they couldn't be bothered to call us when preparing the order, and had built a 20% tip into the cost when we paid for the order online while placing it. This was an overall...
Read moreWhat a cute, romantic and comfy lil place to grab a good adult beverage and dinner. The young lady Lucia (sp) did an excellent job taking care of us tonight. She was all smiles, very sweet disposition, brought us anything we needed or wanted immediately and with a great attitude!! She needs a raise!! I had a Moscow mule(excellent) my hubby had the long Island(fair). I ordered the burger and fries. The burger was outstanding!! Not dry and over cooked at all.. plus the taste was mouth watering. The fries, not so much.. cold and very thin... My husband had the steak sandwich and fries. Steak was perfectly prepared, not over done at all!! The fries again were not good. All in all though, we loved our experience and will def go back. Good...
Read moreWe ate at midtown tavern tonight for our date night. It continued the Augusta charm of Cafe Du Teau and Crums with the fun atmosphere of Southbound. The food was delicious. We had the Brussels sprouts and spinach dip and both were tasty but the Brussels were my favorite. For entrees we had the chicken tenders and steak frites. The chicken fingers were very light and not greasy. If you are a ranch snob, theirs passes the test! We also go dessert- peanut butter pie and key lime pie! Dessert was just like the rest of the meal, you could tell they were home made and were very good. If I had one note- it would be the pies werenât very cold but even so, we didnât miss a bite. Lastly, our server Annie was wonderful. We will...
