What an Austin gem! Antonelli’s Date Night is such a great way to spend an evening with your date. It is byob or you can preorder wine or champagne when you register. If you forget, you can also pick up a bottle accross the street at the cheese shop. Before you arrive think about your favorite cheese as the Date Night starts with short introductions and you’ll be asked to share your spirit cheese. It’s a cute way to set the stage for a fun night. You and your date get a big cheese plate and a charcuterie board to share. Don’t be afraid to ask for more bread. Be careful not to woof down the cheese or meats too quickly- enjoy the experience and save some before moving to the next paring. Fortunately, the staff at Antonelli’s guides you through each pairing while still leaving enough time for you talk with your date or the couple next to you. Depending on how the tables are arranged, I’d recommend sitting at the tables that are spaced a bit further apart, as the ones right when you walk in are a bit snug when you are sitting back to back with the person behind you. The staff are super knowledgeable and accommodating. The other fun aspect is everyone there is in a good mood from start to finish- even if you get a cheese that you don’t finish or wouldn’t buy for yourself- it is such a unique and special way to spend a date night surrounded by other happy couples tasting delicious cheeses, meats, and more. Thank you...
Read moreTheir monthly cheese club is world class. My sister and I joined 2 separate cheese clubs; we did lots of research to find the best cheese clubs in the country. (And then every month we get together and see whose club is ACTUALLY best.) Eventually I thought I would try Antonelli's, mainly because they're local... but I wasn't expecting them to be AS good as my previous club. Oh my gosh, I was so impressed! Antonelli's level of customer service and attention to detail and personal availability is SOOOO much better than what I've experienced elsewhere. Their cheese selection is often the winner (in the "cheese competition" I have with my sis). AND... it's super easy to get a hold of them to re-order hit cheeses in the future... which is practically impossible with the national club. This sounds minor but I have to point it out. Every cheese club comes with an overview sheet of some kind, describing the provenance of the cheeses. Antontelli's presentation is so thoughtful and appealing and friendly. They're sharing a fun vibe. I compare this with my previous national company, who merely sent us a black & white piece of paper. (It wasn't even folded.) It's little things like this that communicate where a company is coming from. This has been a completely...
Read moreI have an obsession with cheese and there is little that I like better than a full store designated to cheese. We have been here a number of times and every time I go in, they have new cheeses to try. I prefer hard cheeses and they have a ton for me to choose from.
The place is pretty small, sometimes a bit crowded but usually not much of a wait. The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Even if a line starts to form, they don't push you to move faster or to hurry up and make a decision. You can try as much cheese as you want, which usually leads to us buying more because they are just so delicious.
They also keep a record of all of the cheeses you have bought which is awesome. Sometimes you just want to go with the tried and true and just can't remember what you had, they can quickly look it up for you and you're good to go.
They also sell beer, wine, meat, duck fat, and a few other items. The beer/wine isn't too overly priced, maybe only a $1 or $2 compared to other stores that sell similar items. The cheese ranges in price and if you only have a few bucks, they can splice the cheese to about that amount. Definitely...
