There's something really nice about going to a gym that is just a good ol' fashioned gym. The staff is friendly and the members work hard. It's very motivating to see these people and work out around them.
I'm about 6 months pregnant and wanted to hire a trainer to help me build muscle so I'd be able to bounce back soon after delivery. Josh Trammell has been working with my husband and me for a few weeks now and I have seriously never worked out more hard and confidently in my life.
Josh has been very strategic in how he develops our workout routines. He makes sure we understand and practice proper form and body movements before we really push it. After about 3-4 weeks of training 3 times a week, I've gone higher in my upper body weights than I ever have in my life (I was very much a beginner, but without the accountability, form training, and encouragement of a trainer like Josh, I could hardly make the same kind of improvements on my own).
HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Josh's personal training services at Hyde Park Gym. I'm gonna be a damn fit pregnant...

I do think this iconic sculpture would benefit from a refresh by the OG artist, as the skin is starting to flake off like a bad case of eczema.
Otherwise, great gym! (as seen from the outside--I also like seeing folks diligently toning their bods doing circuit training in the lot--good...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Hyde Park Gym (HPG) for years and consider it my second home. This gym has plenty of equipment to put in serious work, whether you’re a strength athlete or someone looking to improve their health.
HPG may look intimidating (due to the old school atmosphere and giant flexing arm), but you’ll quickly realize it’s everything but. The people I’ve met here are kind, supportive, and a pleasure to be around. They even re-rack their weights!
For membership plans, HPG have several options: day passes, 10 visit punch cards, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually, annually, and recurring plans via PayPal. They offer a trial week for Austin residence that want to try HPG for the first time.
If you’re looking for a gym with:
A good community plenty of free weights access to Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman equipment day passes and a several membership options
then HPG is the...
