Brandon Tuber, a Manager at both the Burnet Rd and N Lamar locations completely disregarded the instructions I provided him after our introduction. I told him I wanted to keep my same beachy/wavy style, and to cut 1 - 1.5 in off just to shorten and remove bulkiness. Instead, Brandon decided to conduct what he thought was the best look for me by cutting 2.5 + inches off of the sides and pretty much nothing off of the top. After he pointed out that I have a cowlick, and I commented that I think he's going too short (which results in the hair in that area just sticking up straight), he continued to cut it to a point of severe shortness. I told him that I was worried it was too short and was going to look botched for the holiday's and my upcoming 20th birthday. He responded by saying, "who said it wasn't already botched already?" in a joking manner, which I didn't find funny. Brandon finished off by slicking my hair back and tucking it behind my ears, which wasn't even close to what I had originally requested, and the overall style of my hair.
I had seen Brandon two times previously where he did a fine job the first time, and the second time decided to take things into his own hands similarly to this time by cutting it short on the sides and slicking it back. I decided to give him a second chance, and that was clearly an immense mistake. If you ever have the option to get a haircut with Brandon Tuber, I HIGHLY recommend you let literally...
Read moreThe haircut was not good, it was really not good. Though the barber was nice and the other staff, also nice. The atmosphere definitely tries to give off that turn of the century (20th century) barber shop vibe and it comes close. But barber shops, like the kind I used to go to when I was young and lived on the east coast all had one thing in common. They didn't ask "what number?", referring to the trimmer blade, because, and I know this sounds crazy, it was the barber's job to know about trimmer blade calibration. He would ask you what you want, you would reply, "regular haircut please" and in about 20 minutes you'd have a nice haircut.
Shortly after the barber asked me my trimmer blade preference, to which I replied "I'm not sure" he began trim my hair with the electric clippers. it took a long time and granted I have thick luxurious hair, but it took a long time. When he was finished I saw the cut and I was immediately disappointed. But, maybe it was my fault for not knowing what trimmer blade I needed?
I want to emphasize that the staff and barber were very friendly and accommodating. I was just disappointed with the outcome of the cut. The quest for a decent barber in Austin...
Read moreTerrible service, I made an appointment for 3pm as it was the only time they had available. When I made the appointment I communicated to the person that I would be 5-10minutes late for that as it was back to back with another appointment I had. At 3:05 they called me to tell me there was a 10 minute grace period, I was on my way told them I’d be there in 5. She said that was fine but they may have to skip part of the service, massage etc… Showed up at 3:10 stood in line behind someone for a minute and checked in at 3:11… was told I’d need to reschedule because I was a minute past the “grace” period. I communicated, that they told me I was fine to come they guy at the front desk said it didn’t matter, I still needed to reschedule: to which I replied, if you make me reschedule this I am never coming back to Finleys again. His response, “that’s fine….” You’ve lost a long time customer because you couldn’t be bother over 1 minute, and you couldn’t uphold what you communicated...
