This is easily the best card store in Austin.
The Pros: The owner Thomas, and staff, are very friendly and welcoming. They are also knowledgeable with products and fair when it comes to pricing. Itās a very clean store that is well lit and has plenty of room to browse the showcases, which have a good selection of football, basketball and baseball. I didnāt notice much in the way of TCG singles, but I also wasnāt looking for TCG either. The sports wax selection was decent and had a good mix of hobby and retail, again at fair prices. I did notice some TCG boxes, but again thatās not what I was looking for. There was a few tables set up in the back of the store to sit down and browse through a tremendous amount of value boxes and shoeboxes. I was very impressed with the amount of singles in the store and I could have stayed for hours digging through boxes if time had permitted. There was also some memorabilia for sale like jerseys, full size and mini helmets as well, mostly football, but there was a bit of everything. I also liked the added touch of having a couple of arcade machines in the shop, clean comfy couches, and the TVs as well. Major bonus points for having a clean bathroom as well.
Cons: There isnāt much in the way of negatives on my visit, and the few things I didnāt like might be small and nitpicking. Not all of the singles in the showcases had prices displayed, but Thomas and staff pulled anything out that customers wanted to look and the price was tagged on back, that I noticed. The aforementioned value boxes didnāt have prices either but again Thomas and staff rang the singles up at fair prices. There were a few people sitting in the back at the tables, which made it feel slightly cramped but in no way made it difficult to look through boxes. Again these āconsā are minuscule in comparison to the amount of pros, and could also be āme problemsā
Overall I enjoyed my trip to Lucky 7 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a shop in the Austin area. Itās the best experience Iāve had in the area and one of the best shops Iāve been to on my road trips through the US. I am 100% looking forward to my...
Ā Ā Ā Read more(I have to add this, since their apology comment seemed to have missed the point of my review. I wouldn't sell my cards to you if you offered me 1,000$. This review was how you treated me, in your establishment. Not, about you buying or not buying my cards.) One of the worst experiences I've had, since being introduced to the card game. I took a handful of PSA 9s & 10s, nothing of great value, but valuable nonetheless. I knew their worth (which I think may have been the problem) and was willing to take the 70% value. The guy behind the counter, I call him a guy, because he was no gentleman. He gave some of the most lackluster costumers servics you could imagine. Even then, I was still willing to trade. They, unfortunately didn't have the one card I was hoping they would. Eric Cantona, signed. He acted like I was weird because I was asking for a soccer card. He said, "I don't know anything about soccer". Sure, but do you know anything about your inventory? I went ahead and had this guy price the cards. Which he already got upset somehow by the fact I'd already done so with the PSA app. He told me "we don't do it that way", then preceded to price all of them, the exact same. Finishing with "Welp, PSA pretty much got it right"... You think? The PSA app, got their price estimate right on their PSA graded cards, that they graded... Ones, you'd assume if anyone knew the value, it would be them. He says their worth 150$, but says "we wouldn't want any of them." With a blank face on his face. Huh? His reason? They wouldn't be able to sell them. One of them was a 1990 fleer GEM MT 10 Frank Thomas, and a Blue Cracked Ice Anthony Edward's. Also a GEM MT 10. Really, a beautiful card. How could you not sell that card, in a card shop? I was so confused by the situation and I just want that guy to know, if you're reading this, do better. That can't be what you do all day? Also, please drink some water. You had white stuff around your mouth the entire time we talked. It was unprofessional and off-putting. Will never buy anything from that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLucky 7 is our new FAVORITE card shop! We've been to all of the surrounding shops, which have been great to visit. The owners (Thomas+Mindy) are so friendly and down to earth, Thomas is a top shelf resource for advice on all sports cards. He keeps up with current and updated card values, players on the rise, and release dates. The display inside is immaculate, and the cards below the glass are organized and inviting. The entire store is brand new, even couches to lounge on to watch TV while you sort, or just end up hanging out talking to Thomas! :) All cards sold are sleeved and kept in great condition, even base cards are kept in organized sorting boxes you can go through and purchase. I've found amazing cards every time in those boxes -top players, rookies, numbered cards etc (chrome, mosaic, refractors, inserts, numbered cards, EVERYTHING) If you're a true card junkie then you know how hard it is to find sleeves right now. Thomas has plenty of 2$ soft sleeves, not to mention the wide variety of boxes, sorting trays, shoe boxes, small/medium/large/mega boxes and more! Coming to Lucky 7 has been more than finding the very best cards, hangers, boxes, packs etc. in Austin. The atmosphere and lax vibes make you want to come back everyday! Thank you both for creating a new staple right here in Cedar Park! :) If you haven't been, you should!...
