Update on original review UPTOWN cedar park is still 10/10 - amazing! (Drove 1 hr in 100 degrees with not working AC and its WORTH IT!!)
Original review: the BEST buy sell trade store in the Austin area! I'm a very experienced thrifter, and I've been to many buy sell trades and thrifts throughout the United States and can tell you THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST as a buyer and a seller. I've come in a bunch of times, and this store is always very clean and organized. They organize by item and then by size, which is very helpful. They are excellent at quality control: items are actually carefully selected for brand and style and condition. You don't have to worry about having to sift out for stained clothes or items with broken zippers. Sure there are a few, but it's only a few probably destroyed by customers. They have a great selection of brands and prices for everyone and actually have cute, flattering clothes in their plus size section which is lacking at MANY other similar stores. The prices really are good deals, probably about 70% off or more of retail. There is stuff around $10 all the way up - something for every budget!
When there is a sale, they mark the areas that have clearance. This makes it easier to shop. They are great to sell with, but you have to wait in the store. They have always purchased majority of my items and I've always walked out with over $100 each time, if you sell them stuff that's similar to what they have. Don't expect to sell shein and Walmart. They also did a collection of clothes for local schools and did a swap meet for extra clothes, and it's nice to see them helping out the community.
You have to bring your own bags, you have to remain in the store when you sell, be mindful of their selling policies, and pay attention to their return policies if you're fussy. A lot of customers get mad and I've heard them giving attitudes but I've never had an issue. You're an adult and do your homework before buying/selling as to the policies.
The employees are friendly and not snobby here which I appreciate. Others in Austin can be sort of on the snobby side! Also thank you for NOT giving me an attitude or yelling at me when my husband carried in my bags to sell. The other location rudely scolded me. I had a major surgery and a massive fresh incision, so I was not allowed to carry anything. Your store didn't even say anything to me or make me explain - thank you for not being petty or snobby!
Plus they HAVE PARKING!!! it's an a strip mall and there's a ton of easy parking right there. Austin has some other nice bst stores but the parking is very limited, or you have to pay to park on the street and walk in 100 degree humidity with heavy bags! I prefer to come here because of the easy parking, good friendly staff, and the affordability...
Read morePurely based on the experience of selling items at this Uptown Cheapskate location (in Cedar Park), it is not recommended, especially if you are trying to sell as many items as possible.
Was moving and brought in 5 bags of clothing/shoes to sell. Signed in and was told to wait about 30ish minutes while the buyer was assessing what the store would purchase...I browsed around the store while waiting to see what types of items they would accept for selling and noticed they are about the same brands and style of clothing that I brought in.
Anyways, while waiting/browsing around the store, you could hear the buyer making comments about the sellers and the items they are assessing loudly to other store associates. Nothing terribly bad, but ultimately not professional.
After waiting for about 25 minutes, the buyer called and said after reviewing all the items that were brought in (there were MANY items), there were only 2 items accepted for sell...provided little reasons why others were not, but all in all is because they already have a lot in inventory.
I took all the ones that were not accepted to another Uptown Cheapskate store in Round Rock...and guess what, 23 items were accepted for sell and besides having more items sold/receiving more cash for them, the buyer and associates there were much more humble, hospitable and did not just openly make comments on other sellers like this was their personal kitchen and they can chat about others.
All in all, the experience of selling at the Uptown Cheapskate in Cedar Park was poor and would suggest people not to bring their items there but to other locations to receive better care and service. However, I have never purchased there, so maybe their service is much better on that end. It seems like the associates seemed nicer and more helpful to the...
Read moreI normally don’t ever write comments on things so this definitely made an impression on me so I thought I should definitely give props to those that helped me besides the fact that the store is awesome and I definitely am addicted now Lol My experience was absolutely amazing. Jess was so patient, understanding, and accommodating as well as Luis & Asia. They were all so very friendly, caring and just really went above and beyond to help me (without going into much detai)l. Life is hard sometimes but it’s nice when people are able to help you through it and brighten your day. And I am truly in love with this store… As I’ve never been to a thrift store as organized, top-of-the-line clothes, plenty of enployees for assistance, and clean ever before like this. I just move here from Florida a bit ago so new to Uptown Cheapstake. Definitely have a new full-time customer because I stopped going to Goodwill long time ago and just usually go to Domain mall etc. online but this place is pretty cool so thank you for...
