Bottom line: Alexa conducted her Overcoming Food Cravings seminar at Hewlett Packard's San Diego campus as part of our HP employee wellness program. It was a stunning success and top-rated by the 30 employees attending. She's an exceptional educator and nutrition counselor. Her professional yet engaging approach and knowledge about the science and emotion of food make her an ideal guest speaker for corporate wellness programs. She exudes credibility and warmth. I highly recommend Alexa to any company considering a nutrition class as part of their employee wellness agenda. She is uniquely qualified to conduct nutrition-related, scientifically grounded wellness sessions in a corporate environment.
Why Alexa? Several years ago I participated in what was for me, Alexa's life-changing Overcoming Mind Hunger program in Austin, TX. When I found out she was coming to San Diego for a conference, I asked if she'd speak to a group of HP employees. Food cravings are an equal opportunity issue, and most people -- men and women, young and old, if they're being honest with themselves, struggle with them at some point. Alexa's Overcoming Food Cravings class seemed like an ideal fit for a corporate wellness setting. The one hour class is designed to help people learn effective techniques to control the cravings that lead them to the refrigerator or snack machine when they know they're not really hungry. In the session, people identify personal eating triggers and learn the C.A.L.M. plan to change eating behavior.
The class is designed to be interactive, and the subject matter can be very personal, so Alexa created a format to ensure the content would be effective in a corporate setting. She is truly uniquely qualified to conduct nutrition-related, scientifically grounded wellness sessions in a corporate setting. More than 30 people attended the lunch-hour session at HP. The attendees asked a lot of questions -- I think it was HP's engineering culture at its best -- many of them quite complex, about the effects of certain foods on body chemistry, for example. Alexa's background as a registered dietician and nutrition counselor, and her fact-based approach, was clear in how she conducted the class at HP. She's an exceptional educator, nutrition counselor and speaker. Her warm and engaging approach and knowledge about the science and emotion of food make her an ideal guest speaker for corporate wellness programs. The feedback we received from people who attended her session in San Diego was uniformly posiitve.
I wish more people had the opportunity to learn from Alexa and take her classes. I recommend her without...
Read moreI started seeing Krissy McCarthy back in August, after years of intending to see a registered dietitian but not knowing how to pick one, struggling to find one that would take my insurance, and, truly, second guessing that whatever was “wrong” with me/my relationship to food could be helped.
Our visits are now the highlight of my week. I am changing. Krissy is kind, direct, approachable, fair. She’s introduced me to a whole new level of care. She gently challenges me, holds me accountable, validates my experiences, and encourages me to seek the help or accommodations I need to care for my body. Her advice is practical, attainable. She reads my lab reports and links up with my other medical providers - she goes above and beyond!

Special shout-out to Aniya, the radiant office manager who can make you feel heard and held even in that first intake call.

If you are looking for a nutritionist who will sit down, talk to you, explain the situation's, gives you some ideas on how to help with getting the proper nutrition you should keep looking. One of my problems was lunch I was tired of the same things over and over, she informed me that she has had the same lunch for 20 years. That should of been my 1st clue I needed to keep looking.
If you do decide to use this nutritionist you should periodically checked with their billing people to make sure you don't have an amount due. Unlike I who got set up for collections unknowingly.
Finding the proper nutrition for you takes time I should...
