23% RAKE
In poker, the rake is the fee taken by the house from each pot, and it typically ranges from 2.5% to 10%. Games with a rake over 10% are generally considered difficult to beat because the fee takes too large a portion of the potential winnings, diminishing the value of skill in the long run.
Looking at Golden West's rake structure from the image, we see a highly unfavorable scenario for players. With a rake that hits 23.33% for a $30 pot, it's far above the threshold of what's considered beatable. This level of rake takes a significant slice out of any potential profit, so much so that even if a player is extremely skilled, the cost of the rake would likely erode their edge.
Why is this a problem? Well, poker profits come from being able to win more than you lose over many hands, factoring in the statistical variance inherent in the game. When the rake is too high, it acts as a handicap that's too great to overcome through skill alone. In essence, a highly skilled player may still win more hands than they lose, but the excessive rake could mean that their overall winnings are insufficient to cover the cost of playing. In Golden West's game, the structure is so steep that it doesn't just eat into profitsâit devours them, leaving even the best players struggling to stay afloat...
Read moreI am very disappointed at this casino and the pit boss not sure who she was or her name but I could say she was not doing her job right or helping players out. Especially me.Playing $3,000 to $6,000 while the 2 hours I was there game of choice was Bacharach playing 2 tables at the same time I understand some dealers play differently. I already miss three dragons because of this loss of communication I told him to hold on he still plays the hand before I could put money on Dragon, the pit boss denied my request to put money on Dragon. She stated I quote she cannot do anything about it, which I reply then what is the reason as a pit boss if youâre not gonna help out what you doing here so you can make sure the count is up. I never felt embarrassed and ashamed to play here. in all my years as a diamond player at any casinos never had any problems but here I was very embarrassed and ashamed of the...
Read moreI love this place, especially on Saturday, they serve pozole. but I will never go to another tournament where Archie is not in charge. The woman today was micromanaging every little thing, the way she paces back and forth, the way she speaks to players and the way she hovers in one place makes all of the players tense. these tournaments are supposed to be clean fun among friends, but not when she's around. Some of her mannerisms are very strange and make me wonder if she is so controlling because she doubts her ability. She doesn't follow the rules either. she muted the tournament clock and the players still performed as if it was on, but she complained that the players came back in a timely manner and resumed play. The clock had already started but she stalled and then made the whole room muck because she forgot to say "cards in the air" are you freaking...
