Let's be real here most people giving this place a 5 star rating may not know life outside of Kern county or maybe they come from another country. As a flea market this place encompasses the long standing stereotype when people talk about Bakersfield. Heat and dirt. The grounds are long overdue for being paved over. The fact that it's nothing but dirt in a place where people are trying to sell supposed antiques, electronics and even FOOD is just awful.
Vendors are what make a flea market but to be honest any flea market has some ground rules that are well within common sense. No alcohol sales, firearms, illegal products, no bootlegs, fenced items or live animals. All obtainable if you are well versed in Spanish. Plus in all honesty there should be a basic standard when it comes on what is allowed, there's things that are BEYOND rusted and sun damaged and vendors act like they're pristine. Management should have a officiating say.
While it's not hard to find some good deals the overall look, feel, atmosphere and just knowing that there's a totally hidden market under it all is just disturbing. Not to mention when you get to the end there's a stand selling those extremely poor quality party/dj speakers and low quality mp3 music in even cheaper USB media you really get a sense that you're definitely in at least a grey market. Hope you like that kind of noise described when you need to use a portable stall as they're right by that area.
Management really should consider a lot of things, I'm going to be submitting a review again on this place but...

There used to be a lot of average folks out there selling their household goods for reasonable prices, but now it's just a bunch of people ( many non-local) who go buy pallets full of stuff from auctions and wholesalers, and it's row after row of the same stuff. Several times I've seen items out there selling at or above retail. I guess they think that because they're selling at a swap meet that people don't know prices. Example: I was looking to buy a new or slightly used Craftsman 1/4" drive wrench to replace one that was stolen from a set. One guy had exactly the one I was looking for. I asked him how much? He said $15. I put it back on the table and started to walk away. He said "Give me $10!" I told him I'd give him $7 and he declined. As I walked away, one of his friends asked why he wanted so much for this tiny little wrench. He said it was a $20 tool. NO, It Is NOT! If I bought it in the store, for $20, I'd get a set of socket bits with it. The wrench by itself is MAYBE 10-12, brand new retail! Ya gotta know your prices folks! Also food has gone through the roof out there. Elotes for $8??? I'll hit the store on the way home and grab a bag of corn cobs and roast it...
