It's so very sad to see the current state of the Airport Mall. What once was a nice little mall with a decent variety of stores is now a complete ghost town with almost nothing left inside of the actual mall, other than the DMV, a little pet shop, and Rent A Center. On the outside of the plaza, there is a lot more life as you have Ocean State Job Lots, Marshall's, Dollar Tree, Hannaford, and Subway. I remember going to the Airport Mall all the time as a kid in the 80s and 90s and there was almost always something going on there and there were some unique little shops. My dad always used to shop at the Radio Shack and Staples at this mall and my mom loved to go to Mr. Paperback and Fashion Bug. I remember the Dream Machine arcade from way back in the day when I was just a little kid in elementary school. I also remember buying my CDs at Record Town in the early and mid-90s and my sports memorabilia at Twin City Coin. A lot of my allowance money was blown at this mall! Then, there was an Orange Julius. Sadly, all of those places are LONG gone now and this mall is hardly even a shadow of its former self. I was just in there for the first time in several years and it is definitely showing its age and signs of neglect over the years. It looks exactly the same as it did when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s. I actually don't think anything has been done with this mall as far as updates since it was built in the 70s. It's literally a time capsule. I sure wish that somebody would do something with this mall and breathe some life back into it and get it out of this totally depressing and dismal state that it's been in for at least the past decade. It would be great to start seeing some locally owned shops in...
Read moreThe stores are what they are, theyâre not particularly nice but thereâs nothing wrong with them either. But the mall itself sucks. Most the stores are empty, the halls are all beat up and broken.
On one side of the mall half the ceiling tiles are missing and thereâs broken floor tiles everywhere. Lots of tripping hazards and I definitely wouldnât feel comfortable being my kids there as thereâs lots of gross or dangerous stuff within a toddlerâs reach. The other side is a bit nicer but still beat up, most the stores are empty, and everyone seems to be pissed all the time. A few months ago I saw a building manager/cleaner in the hall and asked if there was a bathroom around as I couldnât find it. Guy got really irritated and had a horrible condescending tone saying they donât let the public use it anymore because of druggies. Fair enough I guess but like chill out dude, it was just a question.
A friend of mine use to work in one of the stores and said it was pretty decent until the old owners left. I canât speak on that personally, but itâs really a grim place. I pop in occasionally, mostly just for PetPro, and then leave asap. They definitely donât have the âfun place to hang with friends or window shopâ energy. I would much rather go to the big mall on Stillwater. Such a shame too, this mall could be so nice if they actually put in any effort. I hope the businesses in there move to...

I was coming from a different state and I didn't know it but I needed to have another form of ID than my valid out of state license. I also needed proof of residency, preform new vision test and surrender out of state license.the total cost was $65.-
If you're new to Maine and have a valid driver's license from another U.S. state, you must transfer it within 30 days of your move. You will need to apply in person at your local ME BMV office by:
Submitting proof of your:
Legal U.S. presence (e.g. U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport, foreign passport and I-94 print out).
Maine residence (e.g. utility bill, paycheck stub, lease agreement).
Passing the vision test.
Surrendering your out-of-state driver's license.
Paying the required fee.
Your written and road tests will likely be waived as long as your out-of-state driver's license is valid.
Overall it was a decent experience, and the staff...
