Starting to get over priced and employees are often in the way. I used to like their pre-cut melon cups, fruit cups, and veggie cups but they are far too over priced now. And I understand that employees need to do their job but all too often they are under foot and it's a little annoying. Also they have too many Standies (you know those cardboard or metal stand ups) that get in the way and cause traffic jams of customers with carts. I do like their salad bars and I still shop there so I don't entirely hate the place, I still like it there. But I wish they would tell the cashiers at the Express Check Outs not to spend too much time with Chit Chat when they see friends come in. There was a few times I missed the city bus because the cashier knew the customer in front of us and spent 3 times longer than normal due to talk talk talk. There is a reason they call it the Express Check Out you know. ha ha I understand them making small talk quickly but don't spend as much time chatting away. And I don't mean to be "That Guy" but I've often seen people with like 20 odd items in the 14 Items or less check out. But I don't mind someone with 16 Items but cashiers need to put their foot down when someone shows up with 20+ items holding everyone else up. Personally I never go to the Express Check out unless I only have under 14 Items and on rare occasion maybe a couple more items but NOT 20+ items. I don't mean to spend most of my review pointing out the bad things but I feel these are changes they can focus on. Over all I still give them 3 stars out of 5 so that is pretty good. I do like their quality of food, friendly cashiers, and variety of products. Their fruit has certainly been fresher than over at Shaws in the past. Though Shaws has gotten better over the last year with their fruit and veggies being fresher. But I appreciate Hannafords trying to keep an eye on...
Read moreWell, seems as if Hannaford is taking the cheap route. Their fish counter at both the union street and brewer stores is served by newbies who provide mediocre service. I asked for 1/2 pounds of haddock but was told that there was a small piece of1/4 pounds and all the other pieces were more than a pound I said only half pound please and she refused to cut one for me so I left. Next time at the other store the fish was put in a plastic bag but it was not sealed just folded over and wrapped in paper which was soon damp. There are other instances but can only hope the management trains the newbies or brings back the people who have been there in the past. Heck thereâre getting as bad...
Read moreI have been shopping at this store since it was built, and things have changed for the worse: High-priced "boutique" items, and: It's TOO HARD TO NAVIGATE! I wonder if it's intentional or accidental that there is some sort of blockage on every single aisle? Employees restocking shelves, -they don't take any notice, you just have to wait until -they- are done.
Unless a shopper has their cart ALL the way over to the side you will stand there and wait for a chance to pass. Dozens of cardboard displays inhibit the flow of traffic. Benches and Islands and little traffic snarls every fifteen feet? Come on...
