Village CycleSport — Local services in Barrington

I went to Village CycleSport in Barrington a few days ago looking for new bike as I have had them put together a couple of bikes in the past, and they did a great job. The salesperson, upon my last visit, was very accommodating and nice. I called a day later to say that my father had given me one of his older, yet very expensive, bikes - so, I was going to buy a new one for my wife and have the old one fixed. They told me to come in - I said I would come in around 11:30 AM on Sunday - the service person said "sure." I went in today and was told to wait - no problem. But then, we were passed over three times for help so that new customers who came in could be addressed. After waiting for 25 minutes, watching three different workers ignore us even after telling us to originally wait caused me to leave. We live local and wanted to shop locally. However, the customer service in this shop doesn't represent our neighborhood. I will never return or recommend as customer service...

I’ve been to the Barrington shop twice now in the past couple of months to get a bike for each of my kids, both 8 years old. The first time they had the bike my son wanted but it was boxed and had to be built. We were given a lead time of about one week for it to be built and ready but they called in 2 days and said it was ready. The second time, for my daughter, we went in looking for a different bike but they had another bike on the rack she liked better. The bike was inspected before we left and she was able to ride it that day. Both times we were able to get our questions answered which made for a confident sale and a smooth transaction. The warranty and service on the bikes are well worth it, the pricing was great. My family had 4 bikes tuned up this Spring at Village Cyclesport. We sid not receive the service that we expected. We scheduled two bikes at a time due to Covid. Each time we had an issue. One bike had not been tuned when we arrived. After taking it home we noted the need for the missing service. Our trip was 25 mile drive each way from our home so it was an inconvenience, but we needed the service.

We took in our 2nd pair on schedule a couple wweks later and were given a completion time. We arrived and both bikes were not ready. We never received an alert not to come in and needed to rake the round trip twice.

We decided not to work with them again even before we got a flat tire on one of bikes on our first ride. Maybe they are having a bad time with COVID-19 and this tire issue is a coincidence, but we will not use their...
