I was hoping to find a rating system that offers no stars so I am having to settle with one star, which I truly think that this Walgreens doesn’t deserve it. This is not my first time reviewing this location. It happens to be the one closest to me and therefore I typically ask for my medications to be sent there! The pharmacists are knowledgeable and courteous, in addition to two Indian ladies, technicians I believe, who are very good at what they do, patient, helpful, courteous and mindful. The other white ladies that I have encountered at the pharmacy, also technicians, are pretty bad. They are impatient, clueless, have no skills and not good at what they do. They would ask me for my name several times without being able to find me in the system. I spell my last name one letter at a time, and they still don’t get it! Some of them were so bad that they started handing me a piece of scrap paper so I can write down my last name, and give it back to them! My English is actually pretty good, apparently, but I do speak with an accent, not a heavy one though, otherwise the college classes I teach wouldn’t get the good reviews that they always receive!
There seems to be a high turnover at this location among the white pharmacy technicians, and cashiers. The management is either constantly moving them, or something else I am not aware of us happening! The two Indian ladies are always there, thank goodness, so I am still able to get my prescriptions and pick them up in a timely fashion. Now, talking about everything else, i.e., Walgreens as a whole with its cashiers and people on the floor that’s an entirely different level of dysfunctionality. First of all, they keep changing, they seems to be always clueless, non courteous, rude and condescending. This last one I encounter often. The moment I speak, I can immediately tell from their faces that they’re applying the most stereotypical analysis on someone who speaks with an accent. And I think most people who are reading this know what I am talking about.
I have been around long enough and seen a thing or two! I am not entirely sure what’s going in this place but having staff members who seem hostel towards people who don’t look like them or towards people who may speak with a slight foreign accent is a red flag. Under no circumstances, people should be subjected to having such encounters. Basic courtesy and respect are always a given, especially in a public context. I was very upset, and troubled so many times for merely going through simple transactions at the cash register. Essentially, in most cases, I didn’t feel welcome or respected, given that I don’t exactly look ‘white.’ I rather felt that for staff being non apologetic, presumptuous, unfriendly, and condescending I couldn’t help but think that this was intentional. Likely not towards me personally, but probably towards what I seemingly represented! Then today I met the manager, briefly, and it all made sense! If you know what I mean.
Dear Walgreens, treating people with dignity is a basic right, and people don’t have to earn it! I suggest providing training in Diversity and Inclusion to help your staff navigate through issues of race, color, stereotypes, social responsibility, and citizenship. If you have done so already, then I must conclude that your endeavors are not successful. Today, one of your cashiers wasn’t able to overcome such hurdles nor rise beyond his personal preferences, and that is just simply unacceptable. I don’t expect staff to change how they feel about certain things around them but I do expect their conduct to be proper and appropriate,...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst pharmacy. I waited on the phone, no one answered. I waited for more than an hour in person for the pharmacist to tell me the urgent prescription I needed for my 2 yr who is severely sick ( we just came from the ER) wouldn’t be filled soon and he didn’t know when it would be, after telling me it would only take a few minutes. They gave me an estimated time of 1.5hrs and then closed before they could fill it. Before they told me when my prescription would be filled, I waited in line for 40 mins, with only 4 people total in line - the line didn’t move for 40 mins because no one was at the counter. There was only one person who was giving vaccines and instead of getting through the line of 4 people and tending to the vaccines afterwards He helped one person and then would disappear. And people waiting in the drive through came inside raging about how things were being handled.
I don’t blame the people that work there. It’s management at this Walgreens that doesn’t know how to manage or set up proper efficiency processes. The employees at the pharmacy were absolutely nice and tried to help as quickly as they could but it wasn’t their fault for how things were...
