I used to love this shop but stopped going for many reasons.
Pros: Usually plenty of fresh veg although that has been hit or miss Used to have a great meat department
Cons: During Covid they had a policy of letting only one person in per family which has the effect of ensuring that large family's could not get enough groceries due to limits on items. This policy also ensured a MAXIMUM variety of germs. It was the height of stupidity.
The meat department was destroyed after covid. You could no longer get nice things in the case.
Cashiers practically throw soft produce down the conveyer no matter how many times you mention it. One tossed my soda off the belt. Not all cashiers, but at least half of them and most of them were old women that did this.
I was accosted by a woman because I was buying the pasta on sale for 10 cents a box and the manager helped the woman find the pasta instead of letting her steal it out of my cart, but did nothing to alleviate my concerns. The cashier did check me out quickly and was very kind after seeing the altercation.
Towards the end of my shopping there, every time I went in anything that was advertised, was no longer available. Even chicken breast that was limited to two was empty. Dry ice? gone. You want your regular tea? Gone.
The sales got convoluted to follow and you HAD to have the app to get sale items. I am not paying for wifi on top of their high prices just to...
Read moreDuring the last days of Covid they kicked me out of the store for trying to shop with my mother. She has Copd and occasionally needs help with things. we were both wearing the masks and doing everything else they asked for but it wasn’t enough. 12/19/24. The bathroom had an out of order sign, my fiancé needed to change our 2 month old daughter. They wouldn’t allow her in the rest room to use the changing station. No water in the floor no liability reasons to keep her out. They simply didn’t want her changing a diaper. I asked if she could use the employee restroom in the back, which also has a changing station near it. They refused that request as well. So she had to change our daughter in the backseat of the car with it 20 degrees out. 1/11/25 Low selection on majority of items, prices considerably higher than other stores across town.
I keep going back hoping to have a positive experience, it just ain’t happening. Everyone talks about how evil and corrupt a giant store like Walmart can be, yet they treat me as a customer far superior to Kroger. I will do my absolute best to never step into this store again. It’s sad because when I go to the Kroger in Jonesboro it’s a positive experience and really opens my eyes to how horrible our local...
Read moreI normally am great with our Kroger store in Batesville AR. They manage it well for the most part. However this new self check out system is absolutely ridiculous! It won't allow you to go fast at all. It makes you literally wait several seconds in between each item until it is recognized by it's electronic system that you've put the item in your bag. If you want to skip bagging then you must push that feature each and every single item that you scan! Perhaps OK for a few items, however I was forced to use this self check out for my large cart of groceries because at peak hours... 6:15 pm, They had 1 cashier working the front! ONE CASHIER! I've worked for Kroger. I've been a cashier, cashier supervisor, and was learning to do payroll when I quit for personal reasons. Our manager at the time was John Ed Smith. A wonderful man and manager! Its too bad he retired a number of years ago. Hopefully something will be done about this. I will NEVER waste my time with your self check out again unless it's literally 5 items or less, and if there is only one cashier on the floor again during peak hours, I will leave my cart where it...
