Dollar General — Local services in Bath Township

This is the Dollar general that is closest to my house so it is the one I frequent most. That is about to change because lately the staff has been short and rude. I went in today and they acted like they didn't want to wait on me because they have a self-checkout now. I don't know if they are understaffed or what but both employees were stocking shelves. I rang the bell and no one answered so I squeezed the pig that they have at the front counter that makes noise. The girl came up in a huff and had the meanest look on her face. I told her I wasn't trying to be annoying I didn't think anyone heard the bell because they didn't answer and I had heard one of the employees tell another customer they couldn't hear the bell. She was really snappy with me and said " oh we heard it!!" She acted like I was bothering her. The last time I was in there, l had alcohol in my cart and it was a Sunday. There is nothing on the shelf saying they don't sell Wine on Sunday. A different employee yanks it off of the counter and throws it in a pile behind her register without telling me why. I had to ask what the deal was. Maybe the employees would be in a better mood if the company would fix the air conditioning in the building. The last time I was in there, it was...

Pretty decent store, I like their setup with the soda/chip area when you walk in. The rest of the store is pretty nice, too. Place is normally clean, though, once in a while, you'll have to step over products that they're putting out that are sitting on the floor. Not a big deal for me, but could be for others.

The saddest thing is they stated they are getting rid of the self scan register. They stated it was due to lots of theft going on, which I fully believe. It is sad that it had to come to that for them, I enjoyed that, when the line is long or the people in front of you had lots of items, and I only had a few things, makes it inconvenient. Of course, that is no fault of the store, but to those who just can't seem to not rip off a store that is already generally affordable. So adjust your shopping time when in the store.

I visited this location recently (May 19th) and was there at 8am (as soon as they opened). Upon entering, they had not yet turned on all of the lights, although they unlocked the doors for entry. The store was dirty and looked fairly disorganized with various items on the floor in different locations. Upon checking out, neither employee came to the front to ensure the customers' transactions were going smoothly or to offer assistance. I was not at all impressed and would not recommend this location. It appeared as if no one is holding this location accountable and that it is going downhill. It was obvious, given the time of my visit and the condition of the store, that whoever closed the store didn't give two craps about its appearance or cleanliness. They are in desperate need of an...
