I've honestly had the worst experience at KCC. I went to the Hastings location to take a summer math course that my college unfortunately didn't get me into my first year which was 2016. From the beginning, I was very open to taking my class anywhere. I applied to KCC in early spring of 2017 and got accepted a couple days later as a guest student. They set up a meeting with an advisors for me and my advisor called me. My advisor was named Michael and he was the most disrespectful and most disgusting human being I have ever met. First off, I am handicapped with my disability and he took that as I was mentally not there and talked to me like I was an idiot. I took offense to this because I have friends that are mentally handicapped or even just disabled in general. After trying to receive his help, he pretty much discriminated against me and told me to go to a different college and hung up on me. I reported it to the Dean of students and they really didn't do anything for me. That's when I was connected with Roderick. Roderick is located at a different location, but helped me go through with reporting it to someone farther up and made sure that this would never happen to someone else of color, race, disability, or even a first generation college student because someone like Michael would scare off a first general college student. I took the Accuplacer to be placed into my class I needed to take. I took it about 3 times and the 2nd time, I placed 1 point under what I needed for my class. The school did not want me to take this class whatsoever and wanted me to pay for a class I didn't need then the class that I actually needed the credit for. Once I fought with the school and professor, the workers at the Hastings location proceeded to pull me into an office by myself and tell me that because I got 1 point under on the Accuplacer that I was too stupid for the course. I finally got placed in the class and they told me the class didn't start for another 2 weeks and even said this on the class syllabus. The professor ended up starting the online class 2 weeks early and I was never told. By time I started on the original start date, I had no time to study for my first exam because I was too busy trying to turn in all my assignments because they never communicated with me. I was told as a guest student that I didn't have a student email so clearly I didn't think anything of it and later found out that I had one and there were all the emails about the class starting early. Besides this, the professor I had was very understanding and helped quite alot, but didn't understand what KCC actually put me through and that's not her fault. I literally had an out of body experience with this college because they made me so mad. They're so disrespectful and honestly I would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS recommend them to anyone not even family or a first generation college student. They do not care about their students on any of their locations. The way I was treated was purely disgusting and I will not be back if I ever had to take or make up a class. It's sad that I had to deal with this and it's sad to think that they treat their students or even a GUEST like this, but I cannot change...
Read moreThis will be my second year attending KCC. The teachers where great, (at least all that I have had.) I cannot say the same about the rest of the staff. Extremely uncaring over the phone, and rude. You can tell the dislike their jobs and could care less about the students. I still remember my first year enrolling and being told to set up an appointment with a adviser. I was told that I could do either phone or a in person meeting, I chose to do the phone because I lived four hours away, (either way it'd be a week.) so I eagerly awaited the week away thinking it was my next step to my education future. I get the call on the day and time of them appointment. I am greeted by uninterested, rude person. My questions and concerns were abruptly interrupted, basically it ended with him saying he didn't care to help me and to schedule a in person meeting with a different person. Now like I said this is my second year, I have had some decent teachers and experiences at KCC. My boyfriend just transferred from GRCC so we could share rides maybe have a class together ect. Hes had a very similar experience that spurred me to write this, I will leave it up to him to share and do so...
Read moreI have been to a few Community Colleges and Universities for my associates, undergrad, and for my 2nd bachelors. I enrolled at Kellogg to take a few class as they were less expensive than Western and close to work. What a mistake!!!!
Kellogg is hands down the worst and most unprofessional college I have ever experienced!!! Was there 9 times to get transcripts worked out, admission paperwork corrected, and registering for classes. There is more BS with this place that I can even begin to explain!!! Now another email waiting for me when I got home from home. Your classes have been dropped! Really?? Yet another trip to Kellogg as its to late to transfer back to Western or Kalamazoo Valley. What a joke! May just skip a semester... Thanks Kellogg!
Avoid Kellogg at all cost!! Go to Kalamazoo Valley, Western, Davenport..... Trust...
