This place has the worst customer service, and the mother and daughter duo that works and own this store are extremely rude to their customers.
There has been several occasions when my family has shopped there, where they were rudely told off by the mother and daughter for the weirdest reasons. For example: a few days ago my mom asked the mother that works there, in Vietnamese, if they have a certain item in stock, the mother yells at my mom in Vietnamese and said "I don't have any in stock alright???!" Not only did she startled my mom with her reaction, but it caused other shoppers to look at my mom and at the lady.
Then a while back, my uncle came in to buy some big bags of rice and had asked if he could get help bringing it out to his car. The daughter that works there yelled at him "No!". Which ends up being the last time he ever shopped there.
Then the last time I've shopped there (about a year ago), I paid in cash for something and the daughter just threw the change at me, which caused some coins falling over the counter and onto the ground. The weird thing is that I didn't even say a word to her, but just the daughter being in a bad mood.
I'm not saying that they're not allowed to have a bad day, but to act this way on a constant basis is driving business away, due to how rude and unprofessional this place is.
You can see from other 1 star comments that the main problem with this store is the rude service. If they don't care how they treat their customers, fine, but if they don't like people, then they opened the wrong type of business.
Aside from how rude the service is, the place does not seem to view sanitary as their top priority. I too (look at the other comment on here) have seen cockroaches running around the store. I'm glad my uncle and I have stopped shopping here, and although this place is close to us, I rather drive my mom to other Asian stores that may be further, but at least those places would want...

I rarely post on social media, but today's shopping experience in Manila was truly horrible. I've just moved to the Aloha area, and since it's nearby, I often go to Manila to buy groceries. In previous visits, I found the owners (the woman around 40 years old at the cashier) unfriendly. I thought it didn't matter much since I was just there to buy things and didn't have to interact with them.
But today, I needed to buy 2 tofu boxes. When checking out, the cashier (around 40 years old lady) scanned the 2 tofu boxes for $6. Since I didn't have enough cash in my wallet, I used my credit card, and she said, "You can't pay with card for purchases under $10!". After checking my wallet and finding only $4, I said, "I only have $4, can I pay with card?" Then, I checked again if I had enough coins in my wallet. At this point, she snatched 1 tofu box and said, "You can buy one for $3." I recoiled at her attitude, saying, "I wanted to buy 2 boxes, why are you doing this?" I added, "Okay, you can take it back, I won't buy it." She rolled her eyes and yelled at me, "If you don't have enough money, then don't buy!". At this point, I was truly shocked by her attitude. I said, "Why did you have to yell at the customer like that? You could have simply suggested buying more items to reach $10. This is the last time I'm coming here!" and walked out. However, she continued to yell at me, saying, "You don't understand; you don't have enough money," then took the two tofu boxes and put them away.
I'm truly shocked by her attitude. So rude!!! If she, as a owner, doesn't want to sell products and interact with customers, she shouldn't be in...
Read moreRude. I don’t usually write reviews, but today just pushed me to say something.
I was only in the store for about 10 minutes, and somehow still witnessed two tense moments—both involving the owner/cashier. While I was browsing an aisle, I suddenly heard her voice carrying loudly across the store. At first I thought she was arguing with someone; about customers not using the bell. “I have 200 customers walking through that door each day but they don’t use the bell! This is very frustrating, you know? Very frustrating. USE. YOUR. BELL. PEOPLE!!” That went on in a loop for a good two minutes. Honestly, it was uncomfortable just listening to it.
Then, on my way out, I reached for a cardboard box from a pile near the exit—thinking of how Costco encourages reuse. Before I could even fully grab it, she snapped: “10 cents!” I didn’t have a problem with the charge—small stores need to cover their costs too—but I was just caught off guard and gave a polite smile as I pulled my hand back.
But then, as I moved on to the door, she raised her voice loudly again, talking to someone: “You see? You see what happened?” like I was trying to take the box without paying. That just felt unnecessary and honestly a bit humiliating. I didn’t respond. I wasn’t about to get into an argument over a box.
Truth is, this kind of thing has happened before here. It’s why I don’t shop at this store regularly. Today it just happened to be on my way—and unfortunately, the experience was exactly what...
