Colonial Theatre — Local services in Belfast

A nice experience. This is a small three room theater with friendly staff and it is very clean. Cash only? Oh no! Might have to speak to one of the staff and ask them to point you to the nearest ATM, a block away at High Street Market. Such an inconvenience indeed! I bet you could even ask them to hold the movie for a minute and wait for you, because that's what this small town, community oriented theater can do. Find yourself wandering around in the colonial "for what feels like hours"? Better stop using psychedelics in public, as this seems to be a family friendly theater. Usually there is one movie on the lineup for a younger audience. A great place for a rainy, snowy, muddy or otherwise quiet coastal...

Whenever I'm in Belfast, I admire this vintage movie house with the noble elephant on the roof, saluting the sky. This past week, the stars aligned perfectly and I was able to take my dad and my husband to see the matinee of Roadrunner, the Anthony Bourdain documentary. Three tickets for this first run film totaled a mere $15. We added a large popcorn, 2 sodas, and an Allagash White for about $20 more. What a bargain! Our row of 3 seats had 4 cupholders. Sound quality and projection was great. I'm glad my first theater experience since 2019 was seeing this film here at the Colonial. Just went here to see The Avengers:End game.....we sat up in the balcony seats. The theatre is cozy and comfortable. ...although I wished the seats were a little more comfy. ...but after watching a 3 hour movie, I doubt if any seat would be comfy enuff. For a historic establishment, I really love looking around at all the historic pictures and info they have hanging in the refreshment area. I had never been to a movie theater in such an historic building like that...versus all the new modern movie theaters. I look forward to visiting again....and hopefully see other artifacts I didn't see this time, while waiting for the...
