If you are planning on getting a lobster roll while visiting Maine, this is the best place in the whole state. You might just decide, like I did, to keep coming back. I've tried countless lobster rolls throughout Maine and New England but nothing compares to the perfection that is Must Be Nice Lobster.
The lobster meat is sublimely tender and melts in your mouth like high grade wagyu. It's so very clear that the lobsters are handled with love and care from catch to the kitchen. Lobster are fresh caught by the owner, you might see her in the parking lot dropping off a fresh batch!
Outside seating is dog friendly! Drinks are solid. The staff is incredibly friendly.
First Time (take out): got the Must Be Nice Lobster Roll to go, it's simple and pure lobster roll goodness. The roll travels well if you're planning to picnic.
Second Time (sit down lunch): got the Sadie's Saucy Lobster Roll, Crab Roll, and Lobster Chowder. The saucy roll has the perfect amount of sauce and spice, it's now my new favorite way to have a lobster roll. The Crab Roll is stacked, it is literally a mountain. The Lobster Chowder is rich in taste and full of chunks of tender lobster meat, should have gotten a bowl.
Third Time (sit down dinner): got another Must Be Nice Lobster Roll, seriously cannot get enough. Do not sleep on the Lobster Quesadilla, it will open up to you up to a whole new world of cheesey lobster. I wish I had more time, I would have gotten the Lobster...
Read moreMy husband and I were really excited to try the lobster rolls here after reading the reviews but it ended up to be a pretty terrible experience. There was a table of 8 that I guess screwed up the kitchen but we ended up waiting 1.5 hours for our food. We ordered a beer when we got there and the blond haired waitress never came back to our table to offer a refill. She stood around behind the counter, seemed to wander around alot and couldn't seem to focus when orders came up and then not know where they were supposed to go. The soup was barely lukewarm. My lobster roll ended up coming out first with fries i didn't order (fries were cold). Lobster roll was enjoyable. I was done with my food and then my husband's food came out. He ordered the lobster roll trio and ordered it to be warm, but it was cold. Waitress was confused at which fries he ordered, but we never ordered fries eventhough we learned they come with the meal? Didn't know that. Overall it was such a stressful experience and wait that we would have avoided it entirely if we had known. I'm a waitress in another state and the laziness and inattentiveness of our waitress...
Read moreMy wife and I have had lobster rolls from this shop's previous location and thought they were great so we were excited to visit again this summer.
I expect lobster rolls to be expensive so they are a rare treat and a splurge for us. This is partly why I was so upset when, after waiting for 30 minutes for two rolls, we were given possibly the smallest serving size of lobster I have ever seen, way less meat than would come out of a single lobster. Furthermore, this meat was served warm/hot with very little, if not no butter. There was so little lobster that all one could taste when taking a bite was the bread it was served on. Being charged $70 for such a horrible experience was really infuriating.
Do yourself a favor and take the time to go to McCloon's, where you will actually get a big serving and have one of the best lobster rolls around. Avoid this place. For some background, I grew up in Maine just ten minutes from Belfast and can say this was the worst lobster roll I have had in the...
