Satori is a cozy, consistently excellent Japanese restaurant in the heart of Belfast — a town you might not immediately associate with fresh sushi, thoughtful cocktails, and a refined dining experience, but it absolutely delivers on all fronts.
The fish is reliably fresh, the sashimi is clean and delicate, and the signature rolls — especially the Miso Hungry — are well-balanced and deeply satisfying. Their cocktail menu is outstanding, and the sake list includes everything from approachable bottles to premium selections that show they take their drink program seriously.
The interior is warm and intimate, with a smart layout that gives every table its own space. The lighting is perfectly tuned — not too dim, not too bright — just the kind of low-key glow that makes a dinner feel relaxed and personal without losing any clarity. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at ease.
The service has been excellent every time we’ve gone. The staff are professional, attentive, and clearly care about creating a good experience. We drive an hour to get here, usually once a month, and we’ve never left disappointed.
Located right by the water in the most inviting part of town, Satori fits naturally into the rhythm of Belfast — a place that already feels like classic coastal Maine. If you’re anywhere in the Midcoast area and want good sushi served with care in a space that feels genuine and thoughtfully run, Satori is well...
Read moreThe food was sublime, and artisan packaged (curbside). I found a spot perched overlooking the river and had heavenly satori in the form a tuna hand roll with wasabi soy dipping sauce - then washed with soft pearly sake and balanced out with the tonkotsu ramen with a brothy beautiful mouthfeel with gorgeous pork belly medallions - and some clean pickled ginger to finish. It WAS an enlightenment of a feeling coupled with the sunshine on a first truly summer tshirt wearing day of 2021 in midcoast.
I have known Wind for many years as a mixologist in the Rockland area and I had been privy to his excitement to open Satori a few years back . I was really wanting to see what he was up to and finally had a moment to get up to Belfast. I know how well he knows restaurants with a lifetime of service all over midcoast and I knew his first venture would be top notch and that It was. So sweet to see him in it with his wife and daughter too - family style.
Being covid I wasnt able to go inside which looked lavish and hip through the window - but the building is beautiful an old elaborate stone mansard roof set up similar to a flat iron building on a triangle plot which has a whole vibe in itself which will make for a fun date night or celebratory evening I’m sure.
It was a beautiful meal and moment ill be back soon. Thanks Wind & family!...

We arrived at 5pm and even tho we were the only table on the second large dining area, the host / manager did not let us bring our stroller because of upcoming reservations that would take the space. I had to dine while holding a baby that barely holds his own head up. We finished our dinner and only 2 parties of 2 had arrived besides us. Tons of space that we could have put our stroller in, inclusive we asked to put the stroller on our own table exchanging for a chair! I mean, we weren’t allowed to take one of our extra chairs to put a stroller in its place!!! What?! and I am talking about a doona stroller (super compact that turns into a car seat). I am a restauranteur myself with over 10 years experience in the business in Los Angeles and I would totally understand the request if it made sense. But with the amount of space, the number of people present, the extra space on our own table (4) and the size of our compact stroller, it felt unwelcoming. It was a mistake to dine here. Not worth the extra stress and attempts to negotiate… specially for the price point and quality of dining (food, music...
