Been following this business from afar on social media since hearing about them before they opened. Finally being in the nearby area my fiancée and I knew we needed to stop in. Thankfully even though it was a Friday we beat the rush and got two spots at the bar. The space is small so a wait can be very likely. Although small the space is so unique in the best way possible. Vintage and speakeasy bar vibes come to mind. Good luck finding another spot nearby that has so much charm and personality that sets it apart and makes it a memorable dining experience. From the bar, to some normal tables to a couple spots that have a different feel with couches and cozy chairs. And finally from the looks of it, an outdoor patio is in the process of being finished.
The staff/bartenders were friendly and attentive even with it being busy. Had a well made margarita and look forward to returning to trying different cocktails. I decided to try their tamarind duck tacos while my fiancée got their carnitas tacos. Both were so tasty and would recommend either as a meal. Due to not living close we made the decision to order the gringo tacos afterwards to try more of the menu since we aren’t sure when we will be back. I slightly preferred the duck tacos but was impressed with the gringo ones too. Homemade tortillas and well seasoned tasty fillings made me craving every next bite. The taco orders ranged from $22 to $17 for three tacos depending on the kind we got. Easily one of the best spots for Tacos I have tried in the state! Only negative is that I wish I lived closer to be able stop...
Read moreThis place is an absolute gem! Tucked away in an unexpected spot in beautiful coastal Belfast, this will feel like you've discovered it like a Flavor Pirate. Dos Gatos, "two cats", is represented in many surprise feline decorations but you will be too distracted by the mood of the dark, cozy colors, the enveloping ferns and hanging plants, and above all... The Cuisine. Chef Cooper made flavors that I have never experienced before. You think it's chips, guac, queso and salsa to start... But it is most definitely a higher elevated palate reflected. I don't know what he did with these items to make them feel like the Oscars of Food... But I am still thinking about it. The tacos that followed were drenched in life-giving sauces and the carnitas were chef kiss perfection. I was attending a dinner as part of a professional group dinner so I didn't want to imbibe. When I asked for one of their mocktails (on the longest list of amazing drinks....), I was blown away by being served a powerfully melded batch of alcohol free goodness, straight out of a lucky cat chalice. I mean.. really? The whole place is C H A R M I N G and elegant enough to be the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine... But the food... Needs it own publication. Get here or be a...
Read moreSometimes there are not enough words to put into perspective a specific experience. Went to watch a play around the corner and afterwards decided to get food. This place was so cool because as you walk in, you walk downstairs at entrance (never seen that) and then we got sat at this corner nook that was nice. A love seat and two chairs surround a small table. Crystal came over and was so warm and inviting. She helped us out, answering any questions we had. Got some drinks and then the guacamole came out followed by the fiesta potatoes and chicken tacos. We then got a pear dessert and WOW. In my experience, it is HARD to find a place with food that just punches in flavor. I feel most restaurants done “over flavor” to not driver people with sensitive palates away. But this place said “no, it’s going to taste awesome and you’ll love it.” I was so impressed and moved. Even the kitchen manager said hello on his way by. You feel as if you are in someone’s home. The owner was great as well. DO NOT VISIT BELFAST AND NOT COME HERE BECAUSE YOU ARE LOSING OUT. Flavor fully crafted meals and atmospheric joy are hard to come by but not today. Thank you staff and I will...
