The place hasn’t changed much over the last decade, you can almost be sure that if you sit at the bar you’ll find yourself engaged in a good conversation. Went in recently for a bite to eat and a mocktail to wash it down and was a bit disappointed with service. It wasn’t a real busy evening, and there appeared to be two bartenders. One was very bubbly and pleasant I had her last time and she was great, the other who seemed to be serving me was polite, but very inattentive. Maybe it was the end of her shift? The choice of mocktail (which appeared to be a blueberry soda with added soda water and a lemon) was one of the most lackluster mocktails I’ve ever received - think watered down soda. I’ll take the blame for not giving her any guidance, but mocktails should be at least a little more exciting to make up for the fact that we know we’re sitting at a bar but not drinking for whatever reason. When my food came out I wasn’t offered silverware, which wasn’t a huge deal as it was a burger style sandwich, but I wasn’t offered a napkin either. By the time someone came back around I had already came up with my own solution. No one checked on me or asked how my food was, which seems like it would be minimal effort given I was sitting at the bar. The food was fine. I won’t eat here again, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Good workers are hard to find, and sometimes that seeps into our everyday...
Read moreToo bad there isn't a six-star rating, because that's what I'd give. I love the atmosphere of this place ... like a 'local's' spot, old fashioned, not fancy or shiny ... comfy. We got there at 11:35, sat at the bar, then it started to get busy. There is a nice selection of canned beers, and a couple of drafts on tap. Our server was Kym y. She was great ... made small talk and was most attentative to our needs. We wanted food, and brother, do they have it! My wife got the 'Steak Bomb', and I ordered the 'Haddock Sandwich'. Both came with a choice of a side; we chose French Fries. The 'wow' factor was definitely working here, look at the haddock sandwich, the haddock is sticking out several inches on each side of the bun! By the way, the bun was fresh, and as soft as a cloud. My wife, who is somewhat of an amateur chef, said her steak bomb was perfect, small pieces of tender steak, with no gristle. The prices are most reasonable and didn't break the bank! Another bonus, the pub is located right on the Belfast Harbor Walk, so you can enjoy a pretty walk to burn off some of...
Read moreIf you’re visiting and in the area or if you live near by and have never been.. you should! In fact it’s a MUST! My husband and I have been here twice now and both times was a pleasurable experience. The food is on point AMAZING! If you’re looking for atmosphere… this place has it! Always friendly staff and sitting around the bar feels like you never meet a stranger, but more like connecting with an ol’ acquaintance that you haven’t seen in awhile. My point is everyone is so friendly! The menu is extensive, but I must say the Haddock Rueben was mouth watering and I was disappointed when I had eaten it all. My husband had the grilled blackened haddock sandwich and the spices reminded us of the Cajun seasoning from down home in Biloxi, MS. It was so flavorful and hit your pallet just right bursting with flavor. Don’t worry about breaking your wallet… the prices on the menu are great for the size of portions you get as well. They have pool tables and other seating throughout so this is a place for the whole family as well! We will...
