I actively support local businesses in Belmont, particularly the shops in the Belmont Center. Bessie Blue became a favorite after discovering their unique clothes during the summer.
I had my eyes on this red and white checkered button-down shirt but kept passing by in the car.
Today, after a hard work day and finishing all the Christmas gift shopping, I wanted a personal treat. I finally made it to Bessie Blue around 4:45 PM, they close on 5:30 so I was happy to have made it.
I asked about the checkered shirt in the shop window as I couldnât find it on the racks. The salesperson said it was the last one and all the other ones were sold out. She wanted to check the size of the one on the mannequin as I said I was size small. Immediately she added âbut I canât sell it to you before the holidays as this is our holiday window for the season.â
I asked âbut isnât this shirt sold out?â She said yes and again added that this was the holiday display and they could sell it to me after the holidays. We are traveling internationally soon and I really wanted to wear it for the Christmas holiday. I also told her that I was a frequent visitor of this shop. I shared it with her my travel plans and asked if she could simply put another piece of clothing on the mannequin.
In the meantime, I believe the shop owner came and said âWe spent hundreds of dollars to prepare this window. We cannot sell it before the holidays!â As a response I asked again, âThis is the part I am questioning: what is the point of showcasing a sold-out item during the holiday shopping season if it couldnât be sold? How much does it cost to you right now to swap it with another shirt?â To which she responded âYou can order online and we can ship it to you after the holidays.âđł

   Read moreI (teenage boy) went to the bathroom and my friend (teenage girl) stayed with my stuff and my wig, which I had taken off because I was itchy. After we left my friend told me that this happened: she was just sitting on the floor and waiting for me (just minding her own business) until an employee approached her and asked her where her parents were and then she told her she was at the party the town was hosting and after she explained that she said, âoh okay. Is that a topper?â And she pointed at my wig. And then she said, âno this is my friendâsâ in a tone that made it clear to please not bring it up again. And then She grabbed it anyway and held it up in the air and then showed her coworker and said, âheyyyy is this a topperâ (basically like she trying to make the whole world aware) and then she asked my friend if she knew what a topper was and then my friend just said no she didnât. (Also it was not a topper it was a full wig) After that I left the bathroom and we tried to call the manager to report this. She initially did not believe us and said that the employees were sweet and that they wouldnât do that. After we convinced her she let us talk to the employee that picked up the wig and she did apologize âif she made us feel badâ but only after defending herself for 2-3 minutes. She apologized in a way that made us feel like maybe it wasnât all the way genuine Also there was no apology for touching my things without permission All in all I felt very disrespected would not go again

The sales person said it was already closed, that it closes at 5. I told her that means it is not closed, and that I just wanted to quickly buy a Christmas gift for my mother. She let me in and during my search for the indicated product, which took 8 minutes, she continuously blamed me for arriving so late. Just general bad vibes by this sales person. I understand she probably had somewhere to be, and I would have no issue if she correctly communicated this with me, but the passive aggressiveness made her message null.
