Harris Ace Hardware — Local services in Beloit

The service here was very terrible. I called to inquire about having my lawnmower blade sharpened and was told that if I had it there by Tuesday, it would be ready for pickup the following Thursday. I took it in Monday afternoon, and was told again by another employee that it would be ready Thursday afternoon. Went in Thursday to pick it up and was told the guy hadn't been in yet to drop off the items. So I came back Friday morning and still no sharpened blade. I was then very rudely informed that pickup was Monday morning and pickup was Thursday. So it sat around for a whole week in their store and hadn't even been sent out yet. I was then given a card and told to call the guy myself and drive to his home to pick it up... This was very unprofessional in my eyes. If I was okay with just going to some random persons house that's what I would have done to begin with. Instead I told my merchandise into what I thought was a professional place of business and I still don't have my merchandise. This will definitely be my first & last time having any dealing with this place. Employees were very rude, they didn't deliver what was told to me in the beginning and then acted as if I was the one in the wrong....

Harris Ace Hardware saved Christmas!!! Beyond happy with their friendly staff and amazing attitude. We purchased a Martha Stewart pre-lit Christmas tree 7 years ago from a big box store. The LED driver stopped working keeping the tree from lighting. We went and shopped where we purchased the tree from and they do not carry such items to service what they sell. Searched online to find if anyone carried the LED driver locally instead of ordering from Amazon or other. After searching the Stateline, I found one that would work from the ACE Hardware website, and it said that it was in stock at Harris Ace Hardware. I called and indeed it was in stock. The Harris Ace Hardware staff pulled the item from inventory and had it at the register waiting for me. They were wonderful and truly saved Christmas for us. It worked! Lights came back on as they should! We were able to finish decorating and get things set for Christmas. Amazon MAYBE would have had us a replacement part by mid-December. Tad expensive, but decent supply. I hate to say things like this publicly but don't know how else to say this. Please make showering part of the employee handbook. A young man who works as a cashier reeked so bad I had to hold my breath as he rang me up and that's not the first time I've been through this. I won't say names publicly, but seriously do something about that. It's extremely unpleasant and I cringe at the thought of dealing with it again. I'm kind of a germaphob and that was almost enough to make me drive to the other side of town or to other hardware stores.
