David, I am disappointed in your response to my review. Since I am not able to respond directly to yours, another review will suffice. Rather than addressing my actual concerns (there only being one slice of meat on my sandwich), you instead deflected to other other less meaningful or irrelevant things. Please note that your passive aggressive response to the menu cost was not lost on me, and since you apparently feel it is appropriate to split hairs, I will go ahead and do that with you. I think we are both clear on what the menu cost of the sandwich is. But there's tax on that, right? There's also an expected tip - as evidenced by the strategically placed tip jar next to the register as well as the prompts on the register - right? With both of those, the actual consumer valuation of the sandwich is $10+. Also, like most people, I leave the store with something in addition; a bagel, a desert, or a coffee, etc so it's often more than that. Hopefully we're both clear on what was meant to prevent any further confusion. Regardless, I am not interested in paying $8.50 or $10+ for two slices of bread. If I order a turkey sandwich, I expect there to be more than one folded over slice of turkey and I think most patrons would expect this as well. If I wanted to fill up on strictly carbs for lunch, I would drink a beer or eat a muffin.
Additionally, you and I appear to have different definitions on what "complimentary" actually means. To me, complimentary means there is no cost associated, i.e. - "gift," "on the house," "no strings," however, since you referenced the pickle and the cookie (when I clearly did not) that insinuates that you think there is value added to the sandwich because those things accompany it. I guess that's not really "complimentary" then is it? While I do appreciate getting those, and know that there is a cost to making them (approximating $.20 for the mass produced cookie and $.25 for the pickle likely bought in bulk, they are still appreciated nonetheless. As much as I enjoy the "complimentary" sides that accompany the sandwich, when I order a protein sandwich, I expect there to be protein on it. Hopefully I've underscored this enough to get the point across.
What is most disheartening is that you were offered the opportunity to correct a situation that would have likely resulted in me removing my review by simply saying "sorry you were not happy with the way your sandwich was made, please give us an opportunity to remake that for you" and you would have continued to retain a consumer of over TEN years. Because you chose to be passive aggressive, deflective, and defensive, that is no longer something I'm interested in. I also don't know what "other concerns" you were referencing in your response, as all concerns were addressed in my review. And for what it's worth, I neither live in Beloit nor work in Beloit. I have went out of my way, multiple times, specifically to patronize your establishment. I can see now how much that is appreciated.
It is my sincere hope that you take a portion of the exorbitant profits you are making on selling bread sandwiches and put that towards a Business 101 class on how to maintain consumer retention as well as effectively navigate conflict resolution; unless you feel your business is built up enough where integrity and consumer satisfaction are no longer of...
Read moreI call Detroit the city of my birth. That's why I stopped for a late lunch in Beloit. A local let me in on a lingo tip. Locals call this southern Wisconsin city B-loit . That reminds me of folks who say Dee-troit.
City on the Rock River, I'm Beloited to meet you.
So for a moment, let's loiter in Beloit. Bagels & More offers handmade sandwiches on bagels and bread baked on premises. The manager made my black bean burger on an everything bagel. It even came with a side of avocado. Just like receiving a free slice of avocado toast.
The manager has kept the shop humming along for five years. "My mother ran bars and pubs for years. I learned what my mother knew." The lunch time crowd made me think of literature professors from a private liberal arts college .... Maybe Beloit College recommends never eating lunch alone ... This is the advice of author Keith Ferrazzi, author of a book by that title. I noticed many collegial conversations.
So before I hit U.S. 39, why not a few #ExploitsInBeloit? Beloit College generates its own electricity. A factory specializing in the gilding of bibles. A phone number posted on the corkboard offers free food, no identification required. A class on keeping backyard chickens starts later this month. Chickens belong in the backyards of Beloit? That's a cool...
Read more0/10 would not recommend. Unorganized chaos. Stopped here for coffee. There was a line for sandwiches, bagels, eggs and heard many customers placing orders. Since I wanted coffee walked up to the line by the register for the batista to make a coffee. Above the register is a display showing the special coffees they are offering for fall. We waited patiently for it to be our turn. The cashier was making coffee, so I was thinking we would be next. Many people around us their breakfast or pick up order was done and they were checking out. We even had a man cut us off and they helped him. A young gal from the back came up to tell us that we needed to wait in the other line in the back of the store. Never asking what we wanted. If that is the case that coffee orders need to wait in the breakfast line this should be posted on the front that all orders need to be placed here. Why would I order coffee with the lady that has the sandwich sign when I am not ordering breakfast. The staff was incredibly rude and unwilling to help. We left without coffee and took my money to Starbucks. They are more willing to make a hot cup of coffee and I'm sure it tastes better too! I love Beliot but will never return to...
