Nice little local place, good cookies and ice cream. I don't get into all the colored sprinkles and toppings, but if you enjoy those, they have a ton to choose from. The young kids closing up the place need to learn a little more about how a business runs though and not try to kick you out right when the place closes. My wife and I stayed literally 2 minutes past closing to finish our ice cream and they kept pestering us to leave. Okay, we just won't be back, hows that sound! Owners of a business need to either train employees better to not treat customers this way, and/or make sure employees are paid till they actually leave so there isn't an incentive to badger customers into leaving. If I didn't want the atmosphere of going out to an ice cream place, I could buy the same ice cream at the store and eat it at home. If you don't offer a better experience than I have at home, I have no incentive to go there. This should be a given when training people, but I guess common courtesy and training went out the window decades ago. Sad that no one wants to treat the customer with respect, but they still expect...

Cute store with a nice variety of treats to choose from. The only small issue I had is with the “shaved” ice. I’ve had real shaved ice many, MANY times before, so I was excited that it was available at this shop. And I like that there’s a large variety of flavors & combinations to choose from, and the few I’ve tried so far were good flavor-wise. However, the product I received is NOT shaved ice! REAL shaved ice is supposed to be the consistency of fine snow, as it’s shaved off of a block of ice, not crushed or ground up. And it should just melt in your mouth upon contact. You should not have to chew & crunch it, and there definitely should not be large chunks (or multiple large chunks) of hard ice in it that has neither been shaved or even crushed for that matter (which is what 3/4 of my last one ended up being). What you are selling is more of a crushed ice sno-cone, not a true shaved ice. But again, the flavors have been really good and even with the ice issue, it did hit the spot on those super hot days; so my overall review is a...

Do you like candy? I mean, real candy? Not the usual, boring CVS Walgreens 7-11 candy. I mean the candy you knew back when mama warned you “Don’t eat all that!” because she said it wasn’t good for ya, but really she wanted to sneak it all from ya herself. Right?

Right?! 😆

💥

The Flying Pig has THAT COOL CANDY! Stuff we all remember well! I’m talking gummies from Europe. Chocolate malt ball flavors formerly unseen in my 56 years of sugary-fun. And popcorn popcorn popcorn desires that melt in your mouth… and soul!

Mind you, this is a store you can bring your kids to. However, getting them (and you!) to make a quick decision on what to purchase is not happening. So be prepared to spend more than a hot minute here. Because when mama gave you that shiny quarter, and you walked through the big glass door… yeah, you remember… #TuffChoices 🍭 🍬

Nice friendly employees serving up happiness. I liked it. You will, too! {Enjoy...

I remember when Flying Pig was a food cart parked in front of Hilander, and it’s so cool to see that they’re doing well in a brick and mortar. For the first time in years, I ordered a shaved ice: Kiddie-sized Barbie ($1.25). Unfortunately, I was kinda disappointed. The ice wasn’t completely shaved down, so I was left with large chunks and it was over-saturated with syrup. Flavor-wise, it was good, but it didn’t live up to my memory. In addition, it’s nice to have options, but I experience extreme decision fatigue when looking at their menu. There are simply too many options for everything. I’d rather that they do a few things really well than a lot of things of average quality.

Such a cute and fun place! A kids dream. I loved their bulk candy selection and they had a big variety of ice flavors. It’s a place I would happily return to when I’m in Beloit. I went back just recently and had the Mackinac Island fudge flavor and it was so good! It really is a great place to grab some ice cream and enjoy a nice evening. A little down the street there is a gazebo where you can just sit and relax on a since day.
