We had an opportunity to stay at Hotel Goodwin last weekend for a wedding and we were very impressed with the aesthetics of the hotel, friendliness of the staff and comfort of the room itself. I would like to specifically thank a few of the staff members who made our stay extremely enjoyable, Cross, Alexa and Aaron (apologies for any miss-spelled names).
We were attempting to arrange a ride from the hotel to the DC Estate Winery about 10 minutes away and had just assumed that an Uber or Lyft would get us there. However, we were thrown a bit of a curveball when we opened both apps to discover that neither service was very accessible in the area. This is where Cross and Alexa really stepped up, Cross was able to contact the neighboring Ironworks Hotel and arrange use of their shuttle over to the event, completely complimentary. Alexa also provided us with the phone numbers of two reputable Taxi Companies in the area that allowed us to arrange travel back from the event to our Hotel later that night. Top notch service by these two that was greatly appreciated.
Aaron was a first class and extremely bartender at the Hotel's very awesome Rooftop bar who introduced me to one of my new favorite drinks, the Sazerac. He was very knowledgeable of the local area and made various suggestions for things to do and places to grab breakfast the next morning. He was awesome.
We were very unfamiliar with the Beloit area, which seems to be a hidden gem right around the location of the hotel right along the river, but my wife and I have already discussed coming up sometime in the future to enjoy a long weekend and spend some time hitting the local brewpubs and food joints in the area. If we do, we'll definitely be staying at The...
ย ย ย Read moreFamily wedding event. Many extreme disappointments. Very poor continental Breakfast with very minimal food options. Coffee and hot water are the only beverages. Surprise $50 charge added to every guests bill. Credit will be received after 5 business days at their discretion. Showers in middle of room, all glass walls. 4 women shared 1 room and were not able to shower. Very intrusive. Rented the Roof Top Bar for after party. Last call was not called and the bar just closed without warning. This caused anger and disappointment with us, the bride and groom and our guests. There was no compromise with the staff. Staff was rude and confrontational with guest. This left a sour note at the end of our wedding celebration. Had a deposit at Ironworks hotel for $200.00. Plans for this room rental changed. Attempted to have credit transferred to Goodwin, but could not. Hotel Goodwin and hotel Ironworks seem to be connected for most inquires, however not for deposits. The two hotels are common except they use this to their advantage. They do not work for guests satisfaction. They have their guests by the neck and...
ย ย ย Read moreIf you want to feel pampered, this is the place. Friendly staff who are very accommodating to your needs or wants. Hotel Goodwin is a small boutique hotel that has you feeling as if you're in a Chicago or New York hotel at $500 per night. The room was gorgeous, comfortable, & we had the city view from our bank of windows (9 in one room). Never turned the TV on during our stay (lifted it for the picture) but we so enjoyed having a turntable with various vinyls in our room & even grabbed a couple from the front desk on our first night. This was our anniversary trip & this was the perfect hotel to reconnect/recharge ourselves after the past year. The mini-bar was reasonably priced & had a decent selection of drinks/snacks to choose from if you desired. Walking distance to good restaurants & shopping as well as easy drives to activities. Get more bang for your buck by choosing Hotel Goodwin & have an experience that will give you many memories you'll...
