Berkeley Psychic Institute — Local services in Berkeley

I attended a Berkeley Psychic Fair. Before being admitted, you have to sign some weird non-disclosure document that reads like a spell and consent to non-refundable "donations" because they're a "church".

So far, it's giving cult vibes, but I was curious so I attended the fair.

While there I receive about a dozen complements and promptings to sign up for their intro course because they say I have some sort of aptitude. I wasn't sure I needed an intro meditation course but they kept suggesting it and I joined the class anyways because they made me feel like it I could be really good at it.

Which again, plying someone with compliments until they join you is pretty cult-like behavior.

Within the first hour of this "meditation" class, I had to remind the instructor that consent was important and should be a key part of anything he teaches us. But Robert was about a billion years old and kept bragging about how the lessons hadn't changed since the 70s. Some classes you can't even get into if you don't have the right genitalia. Stagnation and lack of inclusivity are not a flex. Anytime I brought anything up, he kept saying that we needed to "keep it kindergarten". Which is just telling us to be docile children, take the guidance for granted, and not ask any questions. He later emailed me saying I had negative energy and should be more interactive in class (which is an oxymoron if I've ever heard one). I asked if telling me how to participate and how to receive the learnings was in line with the values of the Berkeley Psychic Institute. He never responded.

So, if you want to be under some weird hush-hush rules, flattered until you pay for classes that you might not need, and then told how to receive your spirituality THIS IS THE CULT FOR YOU! But I won't tell you what to do. I'm not the Berkeley...

What a jackass waited in my car for 20 min waiting for them to open didnt have the Curtisy to tell me they wernt open very rude older man says all of their readings are online when I have gotten several readings from them in The past YEARS he was very rude and condescending . I know why they only do readings online it is becuase they are spreading that hate and people pick up on it and don't come back. The worst part of it was is I got the point your closed but he kept running his mouth and wouldn't shut up. Kept making remarks so I had to defend MYSELF Yes oh brother a psychic bully DONT GO THERE! Too bad he didn't see...

Taking classes here has been the best form of therapy that I've experienced. Very empowering because they teach you the tools so that you can provide yourself with your own answers and your own healing with a lot of awesome teachers and hellos along the way. I see why they are known around the world. Feel very fortunate to have been a student of multiple classes and excited to continue taking more.
