May was extremely accommodating during our move in however, she now will not acknowledge that there is a possibility for mold. Upon moving in, there was clearly a leak coming from our toilet which damaged half of our bathroom floor. This was not replaced until a few days later. My bedroom reeked horrendously and a ācleanā was done about a week later. The walls were not tested for mold, just āmoistureā. May claims the leak happened in the few hours between her āchecking the unitā and us moving in that evening so it was āmissedā, but some how the leak dried up in only a few hours? And thereās apparently no possibility it went to my carpet despite the odor being strongest adjacent to the toilet. There were ants running all around our doorstep, our lock takes a few minutes to unlock and get the key right, our front light was not and is still not operable, we didnāt have hot water, the entire furnace had to be replaced but you can actually burn out hands with our kitchen hot water, dishwasher has been broken the entire time, our washer was missing a knob to make it operable, the bathroom hook broke after only a couple weeks, the bathroom cabinetās bottom is completely detached, there was clear water damage understand the sink that became dusty specifically on the water damage parts and Ernesto just wiped it off with his hands, we are missing screens to our windows, there is blood drops on the wall (the spot reacted and bubbled with peroxide) that May claimed to be āpaint primerā and she sent maintenance to paint over. The regional Shana wonāt even give me a call or reply to any of my emails despite stating directly that our health is declining in the apartment. Any time we give permission for maintenance to enter our apartment, there is no worker order left in our apartment. Our dishwasher, bathroom cabinet, hooks werenāt even addressed when Ernesto was in here yesterday with May. If you do not give permission for maintenance to enter your unit for work orders, May will send them to just bang on your door at any moment, despite Kelsey and I having meetings during the day at home. My bedroom and this whole apartment is not habitable and they will not transfer us sooner or put us in a hotel despite again, our health directly declining. Despite Denver having the worst air quality in the world, I am able to breathe easier outside without sneezing or my nose running. I called a few mold companies to explain the situation and they all stated there is a very high possibility of mold, regardless of moisture, in our unit. There was no remediation of the walls or baseboard done when the floor...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is by far the worst place I have ever rented. Management is incompetent, unorganized, and dishonest. After losing my initial check-in documents, Berkeley decided to charge my roommate and I for every little thing even though ALL the damage was there before we arrived. After finally getting a hold of the manager and discussing our concerns, she agreed to remove some of the unreasonable charges from our account. As we just wanted to put the issue behind us, we paid what we had to pay, but not before obtaining written documentation of the amount owed. We also obtained a receipt of payment from the front desk for the amount we paid which agreed to the amount owed. We emailed the manager that same day requesting confirmation that we were all squared away. After countless emails and phone calls she finally responded. My roommate and I thought we were finally free from the Berkeley. However, months later after receiving NO further communication from Berkeley, we received a letter from collections informing us we hadn't paid all of our fees.
In addition to trying to steal every penny they could from us, Berkeley was terrible with maintenance. From day 1 my window needed fixing. I noticed the first time it rained that a significant amount of water was dripping into my room from the window. I immediately requested maintenance. After a while, they called my roommate letting her know it was fixed. When I checked the window it didn't look like anything was different, but I gave Berkeley the benefit of the doubt. The next time it rained, my dresser, all the items on top of my dresser, and a patch of the carpet were soaked again. I called the office again to report the issue. I hadn't heard back in a while and my window was still leaking, so I called again... and again. Finally, someone came and patched up the leak.
These are only 2 out of many examples of the headaches Berkeley has caused.
I'm in shock that places like the Berkeley are still...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe moved here in February. On the form you fill out at move in, I mentioned that you could feel the cold air coming in from all of the windows. Maintenance came by and said to lock them and left. Locking the windows did not stop the cold air flowing in, and the front door has an opening at the top that was also letting cold air in. We had to have our heat close to 90 so the heat would stay in.
Management is nonexistent and ever changing so there is no person of contact. Office staff don't know what they are doing. Any emails or submissions to the office go unanswered and ignored. I have informed them of domestic violence coming from a neighbors apartment and they did nothing and didn't even respond to me. All of maintenance quit and they haven't hired anyone since so maintenance requests will go for about a month or longer before anyone comes, if they do. Our fridge was leaking when we moved in and it did not get fixed until June. Our washing machine does not spin out all of the water, creating a foul smell. Maintenance told us to do smaller loads and replaced a part. Doing smaller loads does not help the excess water retaining drain.
They opened the pool for 2 days this summer and closed it because they did not have anyone to maintain the chemicals, pool just sat for about a month turning green until they decided to drain it. They are now refilling it, but draining it again. I even offered to do the chemicals MYSELF so the pool can be used. To which no one responded to. Even the keys to the pool area do not even work. A big reason we moved here was to use the pool in the summer months, ESPECIALLY now that the weather is over 100 degrees. No compensation for rent since the pool and hot tub amenities are not open.
Overall my experience here has...
