My general understanding of casino food is that it’s supposed to be cheap so that you stay at the casino and continue spending your money gambling. This was not my experience. I came to the casino for the MercyMe concert last month. My group of friends and I decided to eat at the casino and then go over to the Star Center. I picked the bowling alley because they had pizzas and I wanted a healthier option. When I ordered my pizza I specifically told them to please put a lot of vegetables on it because I wanted to load up on veggies. The pizza I ordered was supposed to be a veggie pizza. I had to wait a really long time and pay something like $3.50 extra for additional veggies. When I got the pizza I was meeting the rest of our group at another restaurant in the casino so I didn’t look at it and took it to meet with my friends. When I sat down to eat I realized there were barely any toppings on the pizza. So I had to pack up the pizza, walk back across the casino and take it back. When I asked them what would I needed to do in order to get it overloaded with veggies like I had originally asked I was told I needed to pay an additional five dollars. All this was on top of the pizza that was already in the neighborhood of $18. And once again had to wait a really long time. When I got my pizza I went back to meet with my friends and sat down again. When I looked at the pizza again it once again did not have many vegetables but I decided I needed to let it go because I needed to eat so we could get going to the concert. The pizza tasted terrible! There was absolutely no flavor. The olives had no flavor. Onions and bell peppers had no flavor. And I had specifically asked for as many mushrooms as I could possibly get both times, there was not one mushroom. I ate what I could, went to the concert, and decided I would take it home and load it up with veggies and use it for lunch at work. I sautéed a bunch of vegetables and packed them with the pizza. When I went to heat up the pizza at work with my vegetables it turned to mush, sadly the texture of the crust was something much closer to mashed potatoes. I think people are leaving 1 star reviews because they are upset about the new normal that is the "world with covid." But none of that is something that Starlight can control.

Starlight has realized that things have changed, and until things with the pandemic are more under control, they are embracing the changes and trying to make themselves as safe a place as possible. We bowled here on my birthday and had an amazing time. Temp and ID checks at the door and the mask mandate are much appreciated -- I'm older, so I appreciate that they are trying to keep people healthy. Inside there were staff constantly roving and cleaning. They spaced people out in the lanes for social distancing. I felt safe being there.

For the nuts-and-bolts: reasonable fees for bowling and shoes (less than some spots in ABQ); state of the art scoring (with some fun features); helpful staff; and DeeRon in the Pro Shop was a gem (very eager to share knowledge about gear and tips about bowling) and the whole place is super clean. 5 stars....

Stay away. Far far away. Wouldn't let my family come in and watch my sister bowl in the special Olympics state competition because we have a 2 month old and it's a "21 and over policy unless accompanied by an adult". Which I would hope that us at 41 And 38 are considered adults. Had to miss seeing her bowl in the special Olympics because of their horses**t policies. What am I going to do, get my 2 month old wasted???? Absolute garbage of a policy, ESPECIALLY AT A SPECIAL OLYMPIC EVENT. We will never willingly patronize your business; hotel, casino, bowling, restaurants, etc, until you take a long hard look at these "Policies". What an absolute shame...
