ALDI — Local services in Bessemer

I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt the need to share my frustration. I understand that Aldi has a unique system where customers bag their own groceries, and I can appreciate the efficiency behind it. However, it would be incredibly helpful if this location offered a self-checkout option.

For customers with just a box or a handful of items already in a bag, it feels unnecessarily awkward to remove everything from the cart or container, only to have it tossed back into the same bag or box after scanning. Especially when they throw the items into the cart, and you then have to rebag them yourself, the process becomes redundant and inefficient. This makes shopping feel unnecessarily inconvenient, particularly for smaller purchases.

Introducing self-checkout would streamline the experience and make it much more convenient for customers. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration, as it would greatly enhance the shopping experience.

I’ll be shopping at other Hoover locations...

The good: quality and price of goods.

The bad: everything else.

I like Aldi overall, and I wanted to give it a fair shot but here’s the truth: I miss Windixie.

Perhaps the biggest issue I have with Aldi is the operating hours. It doesn’t open until 9am, and they close at 8. Windixie opened at 7 and closed later. Not being able to grocery shop until 9am is frustrating and cuts awkwardly into my day. Because of that, I end up having to do most of my shopping at Publix or Target which is further away from where I live.

There’s no self checkout! Every time I’ve gone in they only have one cashier. And while that employee does a good job, it’s really frustrating having to stand in a line behind people with dozens of items when I’m just grabbing 1-2 things on my way home.

If they opened earlier and had self checkout I’d give it a higher rating. As it is it’s just straight up depressing compared to what we had...

It's incredibly small, I am not sure why they bothered to turn a Winn-Dixie into an Aldi if they were going to use 1/8th of the space. There is hardly anything in there, half of the products are chips. It also doesn't make sense to have 6 registers but only one open, lines get so long they go down the aisles, it would have been better to include some...
