Masa Sushi Hibachi Steakhouse and Seafood — Restaurant in Bessemer

Giving this establishment 5 stars is simply not enough. From the moment you walk through the door the employee's make sure you have the greatest experience they can possibly provide. As a New Yorker whose been exposed to a plethora of Asian cuisine, this establishments food and service deserves to placed in the upper echelons of the restaurant industry. The California roll was amazing ! My main course which was the tofu fried rice lunch special was so rich and full of flavor ! My family and I ordered a number of items off the menu and was left speechless at how quickly and well prepared our dishes came. We all agreed that if we ever were around the Bessemer Alabama area that we MUST come back and dine in. The staff was so loving and welcoming and the food was to die for ! I’ve never left a review for any business but I felt compelled to do so because of the experience and memories these wonderful people left me with. I can only hope that this review encourages the local residents and those visiting or driving through the Bessemer area to give this place a try ! You won’t leave disappointed ! My Wife and I visited on a cold winter evening. Problem number 1. They refused to turn on/up the heat after being asked to do so several times. Everyone in the restaurant was dining with there heavy coats on. Problem number 2. We ordered Habachi dinners which are served with soup and salad. The salad dressing was practically water, disgusting! The soup was lukewarm. Waiter was not available to address issue. Problem 3. We ordered Sushi as an appetizer. It came out After our meal; which brings me to problem 4. We sat for over an hour waiting for something to eat after the disgusting salad and the cold soup were brought to us. And then when our food was brought out, the portions were not consistent with 'industry standards'. I got like five little pieces of alleged steak that was cut up and over cooked (I ordered medium). And the scallops were cold! Overall, the food here isn't worth $3.99. And I paid nearly $70. Plus, the restaurant furnishing leave much to be desired relative to other Habachi dining establishments. My wife wanted dessert, but I refused to spend another penny there, plus we were freezing. Complete disappointment. I gave two stars instead of one only because our waiter was very kind and at least attempted to show empathy, but he was the only competent person in the place so EVERYBODY was complaining to him which made him unable to really...

UPDATE I have now been here 3 times. While there does seem to be a small amount of confusion initially with take out orders, I’ve still never been disappointed. I’ve gotten something different each time and each time, the food has been excellent. I still stand by my original first impression. I really hope they are able to make it here!

First time here. They just opened about 3 weeks ago I think. (I ordered take out) Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything seemed in order and clean. I was very impressed with the quality of the ingredients. Everything was presented as it should be. Also, I have to say THANK YOU for providing chopsticks to go that are actually of good quality and not the kind you have to rip apart to use (a pet peeve of mine 🙄) I ordered a few different items to try... the Dancing Dragon Roll, Blue Ocean Roll and the Masa Roll. ALL were fantastic. Very fresh! My husband had the filet mignon hibachi (I didn’t taste the filet but the veggies were wonderful!). He was also highly impressed. I’ve told my family and friends to try this place! You will NOT be disappointed. I am really REALLY hoping this place will make it here. I’ve lived in this area all my life and have always had to go to Hoover/Vestavia (for several years) or McCalla (recently) for excellent sushi. I will most definitely be going...
