Bright Star restaurant has been a Birmingham tradition for many many years. My parents are loyal customers and have passed their love of the Bright Star down to me. My dad loves their bread pudding. Being a New Orleans native, his pallet is discerning on this dessert and won’t touch it unless it comes from his mother’s Louisiana kitchen circa 1965 or the Bright Star. So I wanted to surprise him for Christmas with a pan of this fantastically rich dessert complete with whiskey sauce. I called the catering number the day before Christmas Eve and the most delightful, professional voice answered on the other end and talked to me like we were best friends for ages. Her name is Jennifer and she took my order, told me how to pick it up and let me at the door on Christmas Eve with instructions. All with a smile, and a ease that made me feel like if nothing else happened during the hectic holiday, Bright Star catering made me feel like the Christmas spirit was alive and well.
