I heart this location. The manager is totes up with amazing Wizard of Oz magic. She listens and is incredible. She will call up distributors and manufacturers stocking random products; I need. Then, she will call me and give me an ETA. Ridiculously good!!! I actually hope that this small family-owned business reaches the upper eschelon of business; as a Balducci's, Zabar's, Eli's, Citarella types of offerings; even a Stew Leonards. My family of five has saved thousands of dollars.
I do miss their voluminous offers section; if you are a preferred member; but, hey... still a worthy adversary to the Stop and Shop, ShopRite, et al.
FYI: Matt and Miss Courtney at the pizza/sandwich section are beasts, in the game!!!!! Slay and nail it every time!! Always perfect quality sandwiches and pizza. I never eever a complaint with their impressive work!. They know my voice instantly and always has our food ready; to be retrieved, by my spouse. Just a great experience for my family!
Edited to add: My husband had a little misunderstanding with a young employee and shockingly, the manager, a precious gentry fellow, rectified the situation profoundly!! Might I add, he was heading out the door to go on a vacation and halted everything, to make me happy. He's my sugarbear!
The company never ceases to amaze me!! I am also seeing commercials running every so often, on the telly.
Just beyond thrilled!!!! A gracious store.
Another update: So, the day manager is actually THE MANAGER of BigY. Doug. He is insanely kind, bends over backwards to make you happy. A true boot-strapper; which I respect beyond measure. Worked his way from a bag boy to manager. Talk about the real American dream in full view!!!! Love. Love. Love. Procuring items from these people, this...
Read moreMy wife & I who are both in our 30's were shopping and happened to be purchasing a case of beer. (Among another $150 worth of groceries) Without any greeting a manager which we believe was Kim came into our isle and demanded both my wife and I show ID for the beer. My wife did not have her purse. I explained to this woman that I was buying the beer and that I had valid ID. She had it in her head I guess that my wife was underage, which is disturbing (Again we are both in our 30's). Apparently there is some secret store policy that everyone with you also needs to show ID, even though there not buying anything. Below is an image of a sign at each register. "All purchases of alcoholic beverages will require positive ID" OK. I did that. No where does it mention anyone with you needs to also show ID. Also its not practical. (If I'm a father with my 15 yr old daughter your going to demand she show ID or refuse the sale? I don't think so) Regardless of policy, which should be properly listed if you want to enforce it, a manager should be kind & respectful to customers which she was not. When I told her I guess we can't buy it then she just grabbed it and walked away. Wasn't nice about it at all. She made such a scene other isles were watching us. Even the cashier and bagger made comments about it after she left as they too were in shock. We left the store angry and embarrassed. And why is that? What did we do wrong? Also upon reaching out to Big Y I have yet to receive a response to why this happened and why this woman was so rude to us. Why doesn't the store post the actual policy? The lesson learned is unless you are buying beer by yourself and you have valid ID you shouldn't purchase...
