Harbor Freight — Local services in Birmingham

On March 7, 2024, I visited the Parkway East location that I frequently shop. On this occasion, I entered the store on night shift and proceeded to the back of the store towards the restrooms where I was greeted by the Manager (Eric). I requested that he allow me to use the restroom before continuing to shop and he told me the location doesn't offer public restrooms. I started to to Walk away but not before informing Eric that I came to purchase a $300 item and the line to check out was prolonged and if I had to leave the store to find a restroom, I definitely would not be returning to make that purchase. It was at that place point, Eric screamed at me to, "get the F out of his store. I proceeded to walk away and he continued to follow me while calling the police to have me removed from the store. Another female employee tried to get between us after several r Huequests that Eric back away from me and allow me to exit the store peacefully. Yet, he continued to loud and dramatic behind me. I returned the following morning in an attempt to speak to someone else in management and was told that he is the location manager and I have no one to report his behavior to. My husband loves harbor freight. Each store we go to is usually fairly well stocked, this one being no exception to that. Normally we're treated fairly well, at least with a neutral "I don't particularly like my job but that's not your fault" kind of way, but today (9/26/22 around 5:45pm) I couldn't help but notice a bit of a cold attitude from the cashier. When we first came in, I thought she was just too busy with something for the standard "welcome to harbor freight", but after a few minutes of being in the store I noticed that wasn't really the case. Two different customers came in and got a friendly welcome. A third customer came in and was not greeted at all. There was an undeniable pattern to do with being greeted, and unfortunately it was related to skin color. A friend of mine mentioned that he bought some tools and some everyday items like batteries for very cheap prices at Harbor Freight Tools. I never heard of the place but found that there was a location not far from my home in the Robuck section of Birmingham, AL. While we were in that section of town, my wife and I decided to drop in and see what the place offered. I already have a lot of tool, so I wasn’t in the market for new ones, but I have never seen such a huge selection. There was a selection of every tool I a familiar with and some that I’ve never heard of. The prices were quite reasonable and I ended up buying three very bright battery powered LED lamps for our cars and a lot of batteries.
