I am very disappointed with the way Jennifer the front desk receptionist and manager of Spa Marianna dealt with me. Two of my friends and I had a moms night out stayed at Townsend and was excited for the new massage place. However, when we arrived it turned for relaxing to a tense tearful experience. They gave my female massage therapist to to my friend with out notifying me and gave me her male therapist. She had called to let them know when she got her confirmation it was a male, and she could only have a female. What they did was give me her original male therapist without calling me and asking if it was okay. My friend di ask Jenifer if any of our massages would be effected and she said no. When the male therapist came to get me, I said there must be a mistake I had a female. She then began to say that I was wrong, that when they sent a confirmation out I had Isaac. I then pulled up my friends message that she had sent to us asking if this meant she had a male, and that she was going to call and switch. Jenifer said that the text I was showing her was a lie. I was so confused and taken back. I said, I'm sorry I can't have a male massage me to that she laughed and said "I can't Magically make him a female" I was shocked again, but let it go because it was suppose to be a relaxing weekend. I continued to tell her I have confirmation that I had a female therapist. I told her I could not have a male therapist. At no point did she say "I'm so sorry there must have been a mistake on our part. I really apologize for the inconvenience let me give you a gift card to make up for it or offer other services comparable to what I was there for." Instead she started getting annoyed and said," well what do you want me to do? "I said well I can't have a male massage me. Which she replied "Well this isn't our first Rodeo we know females may not be able to." This was extremely unprofessional and condescending. She continued to shift blame saying that I always had the male therapist. At that point I had enough of her rudeness, and demanded a free gift card for the massage I intended it for. When I found the text confirming the female therapist I was scheduled for she grunted in a condescending way. NO apology nothing. She was so unhelpful to come up with ways to help me, just rude. She gave me a gift card. I highly doubt there's anything on there. Isaac the male therapist was nice enough to give me a foot rub while I waited for my friends to finish. I just began to cry out of frustration and being so disrespected. She just continued to lie about the scheduling, and said that the system randomly just gives costumers a random massage therapist. That sounds absurd. I couldn't deal with her lies, and when my friends asked for to apologize to me, she responded with " we have already dealt with this." Which meant I'm not saying sorry for anything. I left in tears because of the way she spoke to me. The therapist do seem very professional but Jenifer was horrible. I'm paying 130 dollars for a relaxing experience, and professionalism. Then she refused to tell me the owners name when I asked 4 times. I finally got his name and messaged him and called. He never replied to me, and one point when I called to ask for him, the front hung up on me. I started getting blocked on contacting him. I know Jenifer is in charge of communications. All I wanted was to make sure when I use my gift card that I do not see Jenifer! I then find out they are in a relationship. I reached out in everyway before I wrote reviews. Now I'm telling my friends, family, social media, and everyone I come across about this. I didn't believe it was a race issue, until I read the reviews of other people who had a bad experience dealing with her. Once even said she needed training in diversity. This is unfortunate because the therapist there are good. I guess I'll stay at Rivaj. I'm still open to a phone call sir. You have my number. Until then I will continue to share...
Read moreI spent a lot of time researching spas in Metro Detroit to treat myself for my birthday, and I’m so glad I landed on Spa Mariana. The Birthday Bliss package ($405) was absolutely worth every penny — so much so that I plan to make it a yearly tradition.
They were kind enough to accommodate a last-minute schedule change for me, which I really appreciated. The amenities alone — the sauna, the shower, and just the peaceful vibe of the basement area — felt like a gift in itself.
Nagam did an incredible job with my facial — it’s been a week and my skin has never looked better; most of my acne is completely gone. Janelle handled my 90-minute massage with the perfect amount of pressure, and I loved the addition of the jade body scrub/hot stones.
A couple notes for improvement: • Please consider offering plus-size robes. I’m about 250 lbs and the robe juuuuust barely fit — more size-inclusive options would make a world of difference. • I understand the need to clean and reset rooms, but it did feel a little rushed. While I was told I didn’t need to hurry to finish my dessert and champagne before my facial, I came back to find both had been cleared away. On top of that, I was given a $50 spa certificate (which I tucked with my lashes) — but after my massage, both the certificate and my lashes were gone. It left things feeling a bit rushed and unfinished.
Despite that, my experience was truly a 10/10. The service, the treatments, and the environment were all outstanding, and I’ll absolutely be...
Read moreIt's super unfortunate I'm giving them a 1 star because the massage therapists are great here, but the way they handled my gift card and appointment was seriously disappointing. I received a gift card from my mom that I planned to use for my birthday on 12/12 at their Birmingham location. A week before, I called to make the appointment. They informed me the Birmingham location had a fire (!) and they were not booking new appointments there or at their Bloomfield location. I totally understood so I asked for a refund. In response they said they actually could book me for their Bloomfield location and they took my gift card. A week goes by and a day before the appointment, on 12/11, they called and told me I would actually have to pay another $150 since they cannot take my gift card. For some reason, their Bloomfield location does not accept gift cards from their Birmingham location, even though its the same company? I seriously don't understand this. They told me I could use the gift card, but probably not until mid-January? I had to cancel because I can't personally afford $150+ on a massage. That's why the gift card was so special. It was also disappointing that they informed me of this the day before. After cancelled with Spa Mariana, I was scrambling to book appointments at other spas but as I expected they were all booked up since I'm asking for a next-day appointment. This didn't ruin my birthday but it definitely...
