I LOVE Sushi. It is a love I share with both my daughters, my youngest more than my oldest. On this occasion we were out and about and mapped, Sushi near me, and happened upon Aji Sushi. When we entered we were promptly greeted. This place is THE ONLY all you can eat Sushi in Michigan (there is a buffet style one) however these are made to order for you in what they call rounds. That being said we had questions. We had been to one on our Vacation in Panama City, FL. This place offers their entire menu for the all you can eat. They also offer a happy hour. Once we were seated our waiter Feeby immediately greeted us and took our drink order. He explained their happy hour and all you can eat Sushi. I ordered their Sweet and Sassy roll and their Mango Tuna Roll. My daughter ordered 2 avocado cucumber rolls and their Black Jack Roll. We each also added their house ginger salad. Our waiter accidentally brought us each a Miso soup. (No charge to us) Now that you know all that I will get into the food. The Miso soup broth was extremely flavorful and it was filled with seaweed, tofu and green onions. Our ginger salad was not like many others (watery and ginger dressing only on top). This salad had the dressing throughout the bowl in the perfect amount. My rolls were beyond delicious. Some Sushi is one note...NOT these rolls. Every bite was a tasty experience. Most Mango rolls I've had in the past have ZERO mango flavor, well NOT this roll, you really tasted not only the mango but the tuna as well. From first bite to last, flavor throughout. My daughters Avacado cucumber roll was creamy and crunchy, very fresh ingredients in everything. Her Black Jack roll was full of amazing flavors I am at a loss for words, chef's kiss. I must add that our 3 speciality rolls were BEAUTIFUL because Sushi is not just about flavor it is about appearance and this was gorgeous. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. They have only been open for 2 months, and we will DEFINITELY be returning. This place is by far the BEST Sushi restaurant we've been to, and we've been to...
Read moreAvoid at all costs! I've never had worse service from a Japanese restaurant in my life, allow me to explain. My bestie and I are huge fans of sushi buffets, and when we moved here a few years ago we were shocked that there weren't any remaining! We'd have to cross to Windsor to go to one, and were excited when this opened!
We understood the vibe that they seem pretty strict in hearing about their customer all you can eat policy, but we saw it was highly rated so we figured it's worth trying. The price being ~$38 is far more than any other ayce sushi we've ever been to, but was hoping this at least made up in quality!
The customer policy is posted at the front check in desk which okay, but then they also place a copy of it at your table too with your menus?? When our first round of food came, he was having trouble making room on the table and tried moving the policy to the side and I said oh you can take that sheet, we know how it works, and he tried to deny taking it away at first like he didn't trust us??
I figured okay with three items per order, they shouldn't mess it up? They missed one of my items off the bat on the first order. The place was fairly dead as we went at like 4pm on a Saturday in-between lunch and dinner, and the service couldn't have been slower. After 50 minutes we were only just receiving our 2nd order, and only had one refill of water. The service seemed purposefully slow to make you frustrated to leave sooner so they could save money on you ordering more sushi after trying to fill you up on appetizers.
Despite this being only 20 min from us, it was a poor enough experience that we'd rather take the hour drive to Windsor...
Read moreAji Sushi just recently opened (March 2025), so I tempered my expectations going in. The space was previously occupied by Panera Bread. There is plenty of seating, so even during a rush, there shouldn't be much of a wait. The service was polite and efficient, and the pricing is on par with other high quality sushi restaurants.
My dad and I started our meal with jalapeño poppers. These were fried perfectly, and had a very tolerable level of spice. As for our sushi order, we got the king of the ocean and Aji rolls. The king of the ocean is a "cooked roll" and included lobster, shrimp, and snow crab. The Aji roll was topped with black, green, red, yellow, and orange caviar and included equal parts of salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. Both rolls were top notch, but I appreciated the presentation of the Aji roll more. Lastly, we got some hibachi. Ours included steak, shrimp, fried rice, and a yum-yum sauce. In general, I find hibachi to be pretty basic, but I enjoyed this one.
In the end, Aji Sushi exceeded my expectations. It's my understanding the menu will be expanding in the near future, and will potentially...
