Normally, I love this store. Today however, I tried to return two picture frames that we bought and didn't end up liking. The frames didn't go with our decor like we thought. We had removed the shrinkwrap on one of them so that we could see what it looked like with our artwork and decided it wasn't the right frame. When we tried returning them, the cashier was unsure if we could return the one without the shrinkwrap on. She asked another employee. Not sure if this was the manager or an employee from the framing department, but he pretty much scolded us loudly in front of everyone near the register and went on about how people do not buy the unpackaged frames and that they get dinged up and they end up throwing them away. All this over SHRINKWRAP! I didn't realize this would be a huge issue. Also, he continued to insult us by pretty much saying that it's not that hard to measure artwork and pick the right frame and that maybe next time we should consult with the custom framing department. Right, so I can spend over $200 for a custom frame that I really don't need. I have never been treated like that at any store I have ever been to and had I known it would be such a huge issue over shrinkwrap being removed, I would have never purchased these frames from Michaels. Horrible customer service! There are a million stores that sell frames, don't need to buy them from...
Read moreIf you knew me, you'd know arts and crafts was something I left way back in elementary school, or so I thought. I went to Michael's to find a Christmas present for my niece and nephew as to my surprise, they carry a solid selection of toys of which, a good number are aimed at STEM. While searching for gifts I came across numerous items that peaked my suppressed interests. Before I'd realized it I was no longer searching for gifts for the little ones but instead trying to quench my artistic drive that lay buried just under the surface. I walked out with a gift for both my niece and nephew, as well as two bags full of gifts for myself. I've subsequently learned I love carving wood, painting, drawing etc and it's all in part thanks to my trip to Michael's. I would most certainly recommend this store to anyone looking for a smart gift for a child and anyone looking to itch their...
Read moreNormally, my family has always liked Michael's. Unsure what has changed but our last visit we suffered false advertising. The sign read, "All wrapped canvases are buy one get two free." Then they had wrapped canvas packs under the sign. After carrying 15 canvases to the register, they said the discount didn't apply to the multipack canvases.
When I showed the manager the sign that read all wrapped canvases were buy one get two free, she still didn't honor the sign. I asked her to take the sign down because it was false advertising. She rolled her eyes and the service person removed the sign. I left without any canvases. I don't care that I didn't get the canvases, but do dislike the dishonesty of false advertising. Just be honest, I probably would have purchased them at the increased price leaving satisfied rather than leary and...
