Calico — Local services in Bloomfield Township

PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY before making any purchases from Calico Corners or Hunter Douglas. Less than a year ago we spent OVER $16,000 for blinds throughout our home after a total renovation. Delamination of the fabric of one of our very expensive Luminette panels occurred. This is in an upstairs bedroom and the blinds are gently/rarely used. I was unable to reattach the fabric so our installer came out, but recommended that a new panel be ordered with the expectation that this may happen again in warmer weather. Aside from the installer being a great guy, here is the sum of my experience with Calico Corners: The store manager and HD disavowed any responsibility. She gave me a "case number" to contact HD directly. After multiple attempts, I received no assistance. With some persistence on my part, the store manager told me the metro Detroit HD rep would contact me to come out and take a look. Not sure how many more months I am supposed to wait for that to happen. It is now my assumption that Calico Corners would rather risk negative comments such as this in lieu of making a simple correction for a valid reason that amounts to very little in the overall cost of what I purchased.
