Deeply Disappointed by Our Experience – Rude, Unwelcoming, Neglectful Service at 5th Tavern Bloomfield Township (6/3/25, 3PM, Patio Seating)
We visited 5th Tavern Bloomfield Township on June 3rd, 2025 around 3 PM after my 6-year-old son’s kindergarten graduation, hoping to enjoy a relaxing meal on the patio. It was me, my mom, my sister, and my son we were excited and in great spirits. Sadly, our experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish.
First, the patio was filthy. Every single table was covered in pollen, and the ground was full of dead bugs. Even my son kept pointing them out — It honestly felt more like a forgotten outdoor space than a properly maintained dining area.
We were seated at a table that still had two dirty small plates from the last guests, which no one cleared. The silverware was dirty, and the napkins were stained totally unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one that tries to present as upscale.
Our waitress, Amanda A., was cold, unwelcoming, and disinterested even though it was the start of her shift and the patio/restaurant wasn’t busy. She barely checked on us, forgot parts of our order, and didn’t apologize or try to fix it. When we reminded her of what was missing, she flatly said, “I didn’t hear that.” No care, no courtesy.
The most heartbreaking part: my son asked for a coloring sheet and crayons. After finishing his drawing, he excitedly tried to show Amanda twice and both times, she completely ignored him. Not even a smile or a glance. Watching his face drop in disappointment was awful. On such a special day, being treated like that especially a child is beyond disappointing.
It wasn’t just poor service — it felt personal, like we were being actively avoided or dismissed for no reason. We were kind and respectful the entire time, yet were treated like an inconvenience. Meanwhile, we saw Amanda being noticeably warmer to other tables/people.
This was supposed to be a celebratory meal. Instead, we left feeling disrespected, ignored, and hurt.
To the management at 5th Tavern Bloomfield Township: You may want to reassess how your servers are trained to treat customers — especially on quiet shifts when it’s easy to do the basics of hospitality. Amanda A.’s behavior reflected poorly on your establishment. A simple bit of human kindness, especially toward a child on his graduation day, would have gone a long way.

Read moreWe've eaten here with friends several times over the past few years. Maybe once a month. It's a convenient place to meet. The food is usually spot on. We meet here usually in the evening. Let me start by saying the men’s room is absolutely disgusting. The same urinal has been broken for nearly a year now. There's always trash on the floor with the trash can overflowing. The counter is always a mess. Can you assign an employee to monitor the men’s room? Get the urinal fixed? On this most recent trip our server was new. Probably should not have been turned loose on the floor without better training. First of all nearly every one of our orders were messed up. I asked for a glass of the same wine my friends were drinking (they had a bottle) and he brought me an EMPTY glass. I ordered 2 ala carte americano tacos and he brought me 3. Ok bonus taco, I guess. We were all done eating, it was getting late, the place was emptying out, and we were sitting for over a half an hour waiting for the bill. We had to go and find someone to find the server so we could get our bill. We probably could have left without paying (wrong as that is) and no one would have been the wiser. Seriously? This kid was awful. So, we get our bill, and everything on it is wrong. When we ordered we stated my wife and I were together on one side of the booth, and my friends were together on the other side of the booth. I ordered a bottle of wine. they ordered a bottle of wine. Well, their bill had EVERYTHING ON IT! All the meals, all the bottles. And mine, had taco and a couple of glasses of wine on it. I ended up handing my friend some cash to even things out because who knows when this kid was going to return. Again. the food was good. Usually is. The service is hit and miss on good days, and the men’s room is filthy. We only keep coming back because it's convenient for...
