First and foremost, I enjoy Home Depot and have spent a significant amount of money with them. They carry practically everything you would need for home repairs, as well as wonderful services when you can find a knowledgeable representative on the floor of a store.
After visiting a few family members up North, we proceeded to the Bloomfield, Connecticut location. We bought a few small items for home repair, and to save the elders a handy man bill if all goes well.
We looked around after finishing the self-check and wondered where the bags were. (OK) they must have run out, I thought.
We called a nice employee that seemed to be there to help with these check outs that often require a computer science degree to figure out. Nonetheless, I inquired as to why there were no bags at any of the self-checkout registers. She informed us that management had opted against purchasing bags for their consumers.
I suppose he is doing his or her best to save the environment while selling a lot of items that may or may not be contributing to some of the environmental challenges, we have today, and no, not blaming Home Depot for that stuff.
Just need a few bags…
Well, this is not a grocery store. Moving on....
To make matters worse, while we were speaking with the front-end service person, an employment appeared in an unsettling manner. One of us inquired if he was okay, he was merely there to ensure that his supervisor was okay, and to defend her if necessary, with physical force.
I'm glad he took his job seriously, but he may have taken it too seriously to believe talking to a coworker, he had to quit performing what he was paid to do since his mentality was that a fight was about to break out.
Perhaps this is something they've seen a lot in this particular store. More small-town heroes are needed.
Again, I'm glad he saw that we are civilized people and that there was no escalation, but there may not have been much to do in the area where he is used to terrible customers or where people go about searching for fights at stores.
Nonetheless, Home Depot should re-screen their staff or put security to the front of the store. The fact that whenever a customer speaks with a manager, an employer might go into protection mode says a lot.
For a variety of reasons, one should keep an eye on this person. In some cases, he will cost the company more as time goes, but for the time being, please add a few bags because this is not your liberal tree hugging grocery store.
(One star for being bag...
Read moreI feel like every time Im in the store , I’m being racially profiled . What amazes me it’s by my own kind . Today I went into the store with a family member , an older woman in the home improvement station (windows , patios , exterior ) stopped and asked us if we need help . We told her we were fine , because we knew exactly what we were looking for and where to find it . She said okay & as we continued to walk she asked us “ Are you guys staying out of trouble ?” And my brother and we’re very confused as what she meant by that and how she even thought that was an appropriate thing to say to us . Like what exactly within that 1 minute interaction gave her enough information for her to even formulate such a sentence to us . We do not know this woman or ever spoken to her before . I just felt it was very inappropriate . To make things even more uncomfortable , we went to “self check out “ & the attendant their self volunteered to check out our items for us as though we didn’t know how to or something . What didn’t make sense was that there was other people in the self check out area that were all checking out their own merchandise without supervision. I’m standing there wondering why is it that I’m being assisted with out my request, it made no sense . This isn’t the first time this has occurred where I’m not the one checking out my own merchandise while others continue to self scan there own items. There needs to be some kind of dialogue had . I’m pretty sure there are people who come to this establishment and steal but I’m not one of them . This experience made me feel as though I was a criminal whether or not it was intended to do so . If you look at my shopping history on my account you can seen that I’ve purchase numerous amount of items from this place . If I choose to spend my dollar I should at least be able to do so in a place that has more of a welcoming environment . I refuse to experience what occurred today ever again , especially when I’m paying for products , this isn’t an experience that I would ever choose to...
Read moreI recently visited Home Depot to purchase a small Christmas tree. Upon entering the store, I was pleasantly greeted by one of your staff members, which was a nice start to my visit. However, my experience quickly went downhill.
I asked for a small tabletop tree, and the staff member pointed me in the right direction and later brought me a carriage. I picked up the tree, along with some ribbon and ornament hooks, and proceeded to the register. The tree rang up for $80, even though the floor model was marked as $40.
I asked the young lady at the self-checkout for assistance. She checked the picture I took of the tree and the floor model, then informed me that the floor model was all that was left. I asked if I could buy it at a discount price. She said she would call her manager, Baneigh (I’m not sure if that’s the correct spelling).
When Baneigh arrived, she had a very unpleasant and annoyed demeanor. I heard the young lady ask if I could have the floor model, and the manager said no. The young lady mentioned that the last few customers were allowed to have the floor models for free. The manager looked at me and said no, I couldn’t have it.
I then asked if I could show her which one it was. She started walking without responding, so I followed her. When we reached the tree, I explained that it was the last one and asked if I could buy it at a discount because it was the floor model. She said, “After Christmas, without a box, you can. We don’t discount our trees.”
Even though I know she gave away three floor models for free, I kindly said thank you, put back the rest of my items, and left. I am super disappointed because I shop there all the time for decorations and flowers for my gym and home every season. I won’t be shopping there anymore because there are too many other places where you don’t have to deal with attitudes. Yes, one bad apple can...
