Hobby Lobby — Local services in Bloomington

Shopped here today and there were only about 3 people waiting to check out so I figured I would be out in no time. The two cashiers were both having trouble with prices and returns and taking such a long time to figure things out. During this time, the lines started to grow. Eventually, after about 10 minutes with no forward movement, one staff member put out a call for another cashier to come to the front. Once they did, I moved over to that line, behind someone else. The person in front had just a couple items but was paying cash - this seemed to stress out the cashier as she didn't have enough change and she just looked vaguely around the store for someone to help her. After another 5 minutes, someone went and got her some change. She then proceeded to spend another few minutes counting out the cash over and over again to the customer. Finally, it was my turn and I had 6 items all exactly the same. She kept turning over each item to look at the label then said she couldn't read the price! It was clearly visible. She finally managed to read one and then rang them up extremely slowly. This is the same issue I have every time I shop here - I find my items quickly enough but checkout always takes at least 20 minutes, and longer if they are busy. If they would just use barcodes on their items it would speed things up a huge amount. I have a similar issue if I need to return anything - they manually key in a long code for each individual item and it takes forever. Love the items here but will always buy elsewhere if I can, purely due to the amount of time it takes...

I rated this place a four instead of a five because it was not what I expected it to be 😜. I was given a gift card for my birthday from a friend who knows I am a huge crafter😁. I had never been to Hobby Lobby b4 but my sister had. She gave me a head's up that it wasn't going to be what I expected, and I was SURE glad she had! I was overwhelmed by how much of a non-craft store this actually was 😟. I'm not saying it's a bad store, but I was expecting it to be more like Crafts Direct in Waite Park, MN, instead of what It was😐. Hobby Lobby has more of a Marshall's or TJ Maxx type store which also sells crafting supplies. They have more seasonal things, art and home decor stuff (in my opinion) than craft supplies, and they're store is VERY difficult to navigate!😥 I came away from this shopping experience VERY disappointed 😞! And VERY appreciative to my sister for the heads-up!!! I'd suggest Hobby Lobby gives their customers a map of the store when they enter (like Crafts Direct does) and/or places more signage in their store so customers can find what they are looking for!!! I came away still having my gift card of $30 and not sure if I really want to ever go back to a Hobby Lobby store again 😥. Maybe I will check them out online 🤔. Time will tell! If you want art work, seasonal stuff (gardening, toys, etc), home decor, patio furniture with a few hobby and craft supplies added in, then, by all means, this store would suit your needs. If, you want a craft and hobbies store like Crafts Direct, I wouldn't say this would suit your expectations 🙄. It CERTAINLY...

I love the store but the every time I go, the cashiers are super slow. Today was the worst. There was one cashier who took forever checking someone out, he kept needing help, nothing was marked. The woman who was helping him was equally very slow. There was no concern about the lines that were forming. The manager finally did call someone in for help and when I went to her, I thought I would checked out quickly. But instead, the first item I wanted to buy had no price tag. I noticed around the store that there were a lot of missing prices and each customer that was checking out had no prices and so they constantly had to look things up. Instead of simply running back to find the item for the price, they chose to go on their ipad and they couldn't find it. Then the cashier did the same thing. Then they were talking to each other about how the signal was bad in that part of the store. Yet neither of them just simply ran to the area of the store to check the price. I was in line for 15 minutes! The lack of care about how this affected me and the other customers behind me was just really frustrating. I had plans to come back later today, but I don't want to go...
