Absolutely the best decision I ever made was to move my mother to this facility. Prior to coming to Bonifay Nursing and Rehab, my mother was in an excellent, top-rated facility in Pensacola. They seemed to be taking great care of her, but she was basically an invalid. Each time I visited, she was in her bed and mainly slept. NOT at Bonifay!! My mother immediately began to show signs of progression, not only in her mental health but in her physical health as well after entering their center. After about a month at Bonifay, I walked in one day to find her sitting in the hall, looking better than I had seen her look in over two years. It was like we had her back again! Her mental health is strong, her outlook bright, and she no longer just lies in bed. They get her up each and every day, and she is out and about with their other patients, living life to the fullest. I have been a resident for over 7 years. I came here when I was 49 years old and came from a active life. It was very difficult for me to adjust to this life. I have a small room with a roommate and limited privacy. We do not have options for recreational activity transportation. But we do go to walmart weekly. NOT anymore, covid has caused transportation difficultis, Medical appointments are not a issue. This facility is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen staff trys hard to fill my very picky appetite. The BEST part is the staff. From the admin to maintenance to the skilled, caring nursing here is outstanding. Never in my life have I felt more loved or cared for. I feel blessed to be here. This was written in 2019. Updated, covid has created challeges for everyone on the planet, this nursing home as well. MGMT has done thier best, same MGR from earlier review. They try to maintain a high level of care with a few less employees than before covid, To me, they mostly succeed. On the 4th of April 2024, my mother had a true emergency where she was unconscious and not breathing. The situation was handle in a Professional Manner. She got Immediate help , she started breathing . Called me her daughter Deborah Connelly, and Medical Advocate. I am also, a Nurse with vast knowledge and experience. The communication was, precisely communicated so I could make decisions to send her to most experience Hospital for her condition. I would like to give special thanks and kudos to Amber RNP, Dee Pct for their help in the situation. Elizabeth LPN and Melissa LPN for going above and beyond . Staff sometimes does not get the appreciation they deserve. I would like to let you all know, Bret Brown Administer and Nicole Rn DON, has always given me a lending ear to hear my concerns.
