Holiday Restaurant — Restaurant in Bonifay

New to the area my husband I thought we would try something new of the local fare. We decided to try Holiday Restaurant, because when we pass there it always had a decent number of people eating. As we sat down the waitress came over and took our drink order. Looking at the menu we decided to get the Sunday Lunch Special for 10.50. You get one meat and 3 sides and a dessert. I ordered the turkey and dressing with field peas, sweet potato souffle and yellow aka summer squash. When I got my food it was warm. The sweet potato souffle tasted like a bowl of sugar. I could not taste the sweet potato and it taste more like a pie it was so sweet. The summer squash souffle was more like scrambled eggs with the squash mixed in and then baked in a pan, no flavor. The field peas were bland and grainy like when chewed. I got a sliver of cranberry sauce from a can. The star of the show was suppose to be the turkey and dressing. Well it was more like dressing and a little bit of turkey. I got 2 cups of dressings and a 1/4 cup of shredded turkey. The dressing was very soggy and salty and the turkey was horrible. I will not be going back there at all. The coconut pie was more like pudding with egg white on top and beyond sweet. This was the worst place we have been too since we moved here 1 year ago. I can see how this is a great place for locals because they were definitely taken care of long before we were. We came in with a family of 4, there were 3 other tables with only couples at them. So I can understand why their orders were out before ours was. But they also finished their food and left before we even got ours. And by the time we got our food, there were new couples sitting at those same tables. My friend waited for 10 minutes for a refill on his drink and wouldn't have gotten it if I wouldn't have taken the empty cup to our waitress who was sitting at a table on her phone. When she finally got our food out to us she proceeded to tell us that she had taken a large order over the phone. I have been a cook before, and I've worked in customer service since I was 16, So I understand how stressful it can be when large orders come in. But I have always taken care of the customer in front of me BEFORE I start that large order. Anyways, I do not recommend. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the food was edible. I give three stars only because the food was amazing. But as far as the service it was absolutely horrible. We came in we sat ourselves because that's what they asked us to do. The waitress started off good she took her order got her drinks and then continue to the table with the other front of house employees where she stayed. We had to talk to her from across the dining room to ask her for anything that we needed and interrupt her conversation. We didn't get our salads till after we got the food when we reminded her. They were talking about other employees to where everybody could hear it. And then once again we talked from across the room to ask her to go boxes in the check. It's actually really a shame because I'm a general manager myself of a restaurant in Panama City Beach and it was my first time here and like I said the food was amazing but I will simply not be back because of the service. I get that we were the only people left in the restaurant but sitting down at a table and talking amongst all the employees it ignoring your guest is not the way to go really...
